If you are castrated and taking a T-gel, why not consider taking 1/3 a dose every 8 hours. (not sure about how to adjust injections)

If you are not castrated and taking an anti-androgen, why not consider taking 1/3 dose every 8 hours.

That's what I do.

Ultimately I guess taking 1/24 a dose every 24 hours would come closest to a personal best. But who among us could do that?

You need to figure out what T-level works for you best. Don't use any numbers from anyone else. Your body and it's needs are unique.

If 200 keeps you in balance (low or no libido and healthy mental/physical/emotional state) do whatever is needed to stay at 200.

(be that HRT or anti-androgen)

Maybe you need 300. Or 150. Pay attention to how you feel and react.

Adjust accordingly.

This can take a bit of time. Achieving zero, or below 100, may not be in the best interest of long term health. Just go for the minimum that gives the desired results. In this case, less T is not necessarily better.

All things in balance.

I have decided for now to not start HRT since I feel very good aside from a few minor annoyances. I worked so hard to get T out of my life why spoil it.

Thanks for all the input.

I've been on Androgel for 10 years. I couldn't deal with the mental effects of no testosterone, so my doctor put me on HRT. I seem to be allergic to the carriers in the injectable preparations and I am definitely allergic to the patches, but I have had no trouble with Androgel. As others have pointed out, 2.5 grams per day is a very low dose. Although effects vary by person, most men with that dose would only experience the health and attitude benefits without increase in libido.

If you are concerned about your libido you will have to experiment to find the correct dose. I have been using 5 grams per day which restored almost normal (for me) sexual function. This was a desired effect. However, once, I was interrupted by a stressful phone call while I was putting the gel on and I forgot that I had already applied it, so I got a double dose. After about 45 minutes, I discovered that I would have difficulty functioning for the rest of the day because I wanted to screw everything in sight. That made me realize that, at my age, I do not need to be connected all the time and I have the right to let calls go to voice mail. (A career change helped that too.) ;)

I was a little surprised to find that the product is also available in 10 gram packets...Individual differences!

Good Luck!
