Old timers use to live on the outskirts and no one was bothered by, "The Bear", or "The Wild Pig(s)", and such if they ventured into more civilized areas. The old timers were gate keepers.

In move the "liberals" down the valley and they object and report the violations. So the last old timer does not serve gate keeping duties. Now the liberals are experiencing destruction of their orchard trees and pastures and are sorry they ignorantly complained about the gate keepers.

The worst case scenario are the dumb ass parents who let a 2 year old wander off out of sight and are shocked when the child is attacked by a critter and want the critters all killed. Currently, there are coyotes in Central Park, NYC. In "The OC" we had two such mountain lion attackes on small children some years ago. Currently we hear of coyotes attacking small children around Altadena where the fires just occurred.

People have forgotten how to live with other animals.

Ouray, Colorado just had an incident a few weeks back where some lady who had been repeatedly warned over and over to please not feed the bears was...

Found one morning apparently mostly eaten by bears.

Alright River, you have made a valid point. Now I would like to make an observation... well, not a real observation but really it is just my silly assumption based on flimsy suspicion. I have NEVER been to a meeting of "The Sierra Club," "Earth First," or "P.E.T.A." so I cannot offer any real observation, but I have some pretty good ideas about their membership.

I would bet that if you go to any meeting or event organized by "P.E.T.A." or "Earth First" or even "The Sierra Club," you would find an amazing paucity of Republicans, and you would find that among the people present, some would be Democrats, some Libertarians, and most would not even be registered to vote.

Don't get me wrong, even though I am registered as a Republican, I voted for Kerry in the 2004 election, and I had to hold my nose when I voted for Bush (part II) the first time in 2000. I feel the "GOP" (Republican) party has been hijacked by religious zealots and "The Good Ole' Boys."

Among any group of gun owners, or even non-gun owning hunters (archers), you will find an amazing paucity of Democrats. Go to your local "Rod and Gun Club" or "Sportsman's Club" or whatever you call it where you live, and see how many Democrats are hunters or even gun owners.

So, maybe Moi621 "used too broad a brush" when he painted all those "liberals" who objected to the local old timers controlling some of the encroaching wildlife. But I seriously would be willing to bet that fewer that ten percent of those objecting were Republicans, and the Republicans who objected only did so because they were jealous and wish they could have shot the animal themselves (i.e. they were hypocrites! Oh BIG SURPRISE THERE! A Republican who is a hypocrite? Never!).

I know some of them.

Trust me.

Liberals.

Knowing nothing of living in the wilds they bring their citified standards expecting civility among the wild critters.

They all have collars and tags, don't they? The critters I mean ;)

The irrigated areas are used for cattle grazing and in move the vegetarian neighbors who love nature more then those who know her.

Certainly, proudly ignorant personal exist on the right.

But when it comes to nature, proudly ignorant is dominated by the left.

After further review I still say BS.

The politics does not really matter, both side are about equal on these issues. its a personal choice not a political one.

Maybe I should apologize for the observation that the new neighbors who bought sub divided acreage and built McMansions that later went to the bank before it was popular to do so, complained of bears being prevented from raiding their properties, were vegetarian, liberals.

More then one household.

A whole gaggle of them, swarming over the pass from L.A. to the valleys below Sequoia National Park.

I'm sorry.

I truly wish they were gun nut right wingers who plowed though the landscape killing whatever moved. Then my experience would be more acceptable to the prevailing, bias.

And someone might like me enough to add to my reputation.

Alas they were indeed, Liberals. As out of their element as fish out of water.

Truthfully, each household seemed to have its' hard core vegan. They were the pale, tired ones.

I thought people moved out in the "wilds" to get away from the neighbors, now all they want to do is talk about them or shoot 'em? Why not just get a trailer in the desert, where the largest thing you glimpse is a lizard, and tell people to F off from the get go. My theory is that people who try to "get away" have a reason and pretty soon they can't get along with the animals either.

Love thee neighbor with your 12" cock. And we're not talking about not the moose!

I can't get past the term "Goat Sucker". It sounds like something I call the neighbors when they have a loud party. --FLO--

Labels again, just because someone is a liberal does not make them a vegetarian or the other way around. I know a family where the parents are vegan and liberal and there three kids are liberal, middle of the road and very conservative right wing radical, card caring member of the young Republicans club and chapter president.

You keep putting labels on people but your model does not have any substance just BS. According to you all the people that moved into that area were all liberals and all vegans and all lost there houses, I don't believe you.
