There are actually a lot of forms of baldness ranging from full baldness to simply a receding hairline. And there are also different inheritence patterns for the different forms. The classic kind is baldness at the top of the head and affects males and the rare unlucky female who happen to have that wrong combination of genes in both of their "X" chromosomes. Some baldness is affected by testosterone but most is not.

Yes, what I find interesting about male and female hair loss is such... it almost seems like a puzzle. As in if one combines both hair losses in its mid stages, one can create a full head of hair.
Not discounting testosterone having a say in hair loss, in fact, I believe it is part of several initiation requirements in progressing with the hair loss but not necessarily the initial trigger. Might it be that scientists are concerned with the wrong idea? I mean, history says they are most certainly always concerned about the wrong concept!

Anyway I'm the only "male" from both of either sides of my family with a very full head of hair. And I have been confronted about it too asking me what my "secret" was. "And by the way why are you the only one that's never gotten hitched either." Er- maybe both a double XX chromosome PLUS a lack of testosterone in my life since I never really cared and got along just fine without it?

Both before and after castration I have always had hair that grows like crazy. I should get it cut every three weeks. We were driving around with the windows down today and my hair looked wild. Maybe I should grow it for locks of love. Wonder if anyone would like a wig with a little grey?
