I'm sorry to hear about Sam. I know what Gem is going through right now as I had a cat pass away in Feb. 2007. Just the other day I caught myself calling Dylan by Feet's name. It took quite a while to come to terms with the loss of Feet. After a few months I took a trip to the Humane society and fell for Dylan.
He's been a great companion for about a year now. Still though, he's no Feet. I miss Feet's mannerisms.
Gem -- I'm sorry for the pain you're going through right now.

I make most of my posts in this section. Testosterone levels, depression, aging, and other factors play a strong part in why I cam here. Fantasy also played a part, but most of my interests are more day-to-day.
I mean I am not going to meet a beautiful female urologist who is going to give me a voluntary penectomy by pretending I have a medical need to get one. It just isnยt going to happen! :-\
But pets die, politicians make mistakes, and people post all sorts of comments that demand my response!

River,
My heart goes out to Gem, Talula and you as you work through the loss of Sam. Gem is one of the gentlest, most accepting human beings I have ever met. I know how much he cared for Sam.
Hugs,
Danya

UPDATE:
We lost Sam Monday evening, Friday Gem came home with a new friend. He does not have a name yet and where Sam was the biggest cat you have seen this new little guy is so tiny he fits in the palm of your hand, he is pure black and was found in a barn where he was abandoned. His cry is so small and quite, you must really be quiet to hear him.
We knew that Gem needed another pet and soon but he came to this decision on his own. He will not replace Sam or be Sam, he will be someone new, his own cat.
