Hot flushes (or flashes?)

Post by Old Greebo (imported) »

Tell me, please, someone, what actually IS a Hot Flush? Or Flash?

Is it something that can sort of overwhelm you at any time of the day? Or is it confined to bedtimes, or any other well-defined times?

It's been worrying me that, every now and then, I wake up to find myself soaked in sweat! No apparent reason, and it can be more or less at the time I would normally wake up, or it can occur in the middle of the night and wake me when I least expect it.

It's not a problem I experience during ordinary waking hours. Mainly, I think, it occurs during the last couple of hours before one normally gets up to go to work.

Do I have to think of these events as Hot Flushes?

Is it an indication of a possible low testosterone level?

Should I be worried?

You are indeed experiencing hot flashes or flushes (either is used). They can happen at any time, day or night. They are usually unexpected. All you can do is ride them out. Yes, the hot flashes are indicative of lower T levels. For some people they go away relatively quickly, many have them for years (like me - 8 years later). It is just your body adjusting to new realities.

If this just started where you have not had this, I would have it checked out by a doctor. It sounds like Hot flushes/flashes but it is not real common for a guy to just all at one to get them. For most guys they slowly reduce the level of testosterone and your body adjusts as it changes.

While I admittedly have nothing on topic to contribute to this thread, I would like to say that hot flushes occur when one tosses a good ol' cherry bomb into the campsite biffy at the overflow (party) campground during the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 2001.

Of course it wasn't me and I know nothing about it...

I'll post a different opinion, than others.

As a sufferer of hot flashes when my T level is low, I will assure you , that they come not just at night, but while dining in a cool restaurant, or driving the car, on at an important meeting. They are non-selective.

There is also something called night sweats, that has myriad causes, but is not related to testosterone levels.

I have had those as well. Based on your description of the timing of them, and the fact that this only happens at night, I would say night sweats, not hot flashes.

Either way see the doctor. If it is night sweats, there are several possible causes, and they can be controlled.

If I am wrong, then a low testosterone level could be the cause, and that too is fixable.

See the doc, and be honest and open. They can best help you if you are.

💡Couldn't you just have your doctor put in a new thermostat?

(She asked...innocently.)

Yoli

Good ideas and solutions created cheap.

Call for estimate.

Can anyone think of an answer to that? Maybe this: 🍑👋
