Another new doctor

Post by Hash (imported) »

My doctor moved away a few months ago and I did not attempt to find a new one until last week. My previous doctor was a young female and even when I told her I was castrated, she never did examine me to find out if I was telling the truth. Instead she took blood tests which proved my testosterone was low. My endocrinologist never examined me either and I have not seen her for several months and she is also young. I thought that perhaps these two young female physicians may have been afraid to examine me or perhaps they were disgusted, I don't know, but I made sure that my new physician was an older female, she's in her early 50's, and practicing in mid-New Jersey near Princeton.

At my appointment I told her my history and desire to be castrated. She asked a few questions and I told her how I was castrated. Then she said she'd like to take a look. She told me she had seen just about everything, but she didn't say that she had ever seen a castrated man or eunuch. Instead of leaving the room, she told me to unbutton my shirt and then she put the stethoscope on me and asked me to take some deep breaths, I complied. Then she asked me to stand up and undo my pants and pull down my underwear. She sat in front of me and examined my remains. She didn't say much, but squeezed the cord endings. She then asked me how I felt about being castrated and I told her "great." She asked, "Are you troubled by it," and I told her, "Not at all." I told her if more men were castrated the world would be a safer place. She said, "You're probably right about that!" Then she told me that she wanted me to get some blood tests and I went in this morning and had them take my blood. The nurse had trouble finding my veins, which may be a result of less testosterone. Before castration, finding my veins was easy. Well, I must say I like this new doctor a lot and hope to remain her patient for a long time. She was compassionate, understanding, and non-judgemental, but she also was interested in my condition. Hash

Its great to have a doctor you can be comfortable with and speak honestly to... I feel very safe with mine and actually enjoy doctors visits even tho they often involve getting blood taken and things like DREs. :(

I'm glad to hear you have found a doctor who is understanding and compassionate. Sadly I have to say that can be difficult anymore.

It seems that so far I am the only one on the board who has found my male doctors to be the understanding and sympathetic ones, while my female doctors have been cold and distant. My theory is because I told the female doctors I was a woman when they knew I wasn't. I have never received a hormone prescription from a female doctor. All the doctors who have helped me have been male.

It does suck that you had to prove your castration with blood tests rather than with a simple examination. Even with the female doctors, that was never the case with me. If you were interested in T, then it would be even worse because you'd have to get the tests and wait for them to come back rather than getting a script the same day. But I wouldn't put it past some steroid user out there somewhere to tuck his balls in and make himself look castrated to get legal T, and maybe this is what the doctor was worried about.

I have also had a hard time with bloodwork since getting cut. I do think it is related to the increased subcutaneous fat under the skin as well as the veins getting smaller. Before the cut bloodwork was a breeze. Since then I have had up to 10 pokes looking for a vein. Not fun.

A lot of the doctors in oregon that formerly didvoluntary orchiectomy have retired in the last 2 years

I was checking around to see if any new doctors have come in to replace them

I was told a new female urologist in eugene oregon Is now doing the voluntary orchiectomies that the other doctors did.

Have not talked to her directly...I talked to 6 members of the staff...asked if she has done the surgery a lot..they said yes....she is on vacation right now...they said she had 4 scheduled for May

Mailed a letter today to kind of get this nailed down ...will see what happens.

Side note: I'm going to try and engage my new doctor in a conversation about castration and why so few urologists/surgeons refuse to do them. She wants me to have an ultrasound done because my left side cord ending seems a little strange or unusual. I told her I'm a little embarrassed to have male nurses/ doctors look at me, she said, "Oh, I can take care of that for you." Meaning that she would find a female to do the ultra sound and inform them about my condition. I'm not sure when I'll have this test done, I'm going on vacation next week and will probably schedule it in May or June.

I'm also lucky to have a doc with whom I can be quite open about having been castrated. He's one of about 8 docs at a gay clinic, and the 2 nurses at the clinic have told me that there's enough castrated clients that theyre now regarded as 'experts' by other docs in treating castrated guys.
