When I first accessed BME, some time ago, there were several links to pages about eunuchs. On one of those web pages--don't recall which one--there was a reference to "butcher's block castrations." The idea evokes some rather stark images, and the thought of, "Ouch!!!" I think I may have seen something about that sort of procedure somewhere else as well, at about the same time.
The reference was made on the web page, as if that method of removing the gonads had been used more than once--that it was something which happened from time to time. But, just thinking about it, using a chopping block and--I would guess--a cleaver or a heavy butcher knife, would be a rather awkward and difficult way to remove the gonads. For one thing, assuming that the phallus would be retained, it would be necessary to tape the phallus up against the abdomen, and it would still be somewhat in the way of a downward chop. Then, the distance between the base of the penis and the testes is not far, and the legs are, to some extent, in the way. So the butcher's block would have to be maneuvered into place hard up against the thighs, and there would still be less than an inch between the edge of the block and the place which was to be cut. The person wielding the cleaver or knife, would have to be very careful as he swung it downward, and that would seem to preclude a fast chop. Add to that the fact that the person doing that sort of rough-hewn surgery, would probably be a rank amateur, and the idea of a butcher's block castration seems somewhat unlikely.
So I'd guess it's somewhat mythical. And what I wonder is, if the idea of chopping off someone's testes on a butcher's block, might represent a rape victim's or beating victim's fantasy, about an appropriate punishment for her attacker. I think it's common for women to report that they feel intense rage toward a person who raped them, and perhaps a fantasy of chopping off the offending organs, provides a kind of catharsis.
Come to think of it, I've never talked to anyone who said she was a rape victim. But I suspect I've actually encountered more than one of them. I've read that most women who are raped, never report the incident.

Re: Butcher's Block Emasculations
Your thinking of a typical butcher block you would find in a kitchen! What if the block had a plank that stuck out...sort of like a seat. Then pull the torso back also force the legs to go back as far as possible (this could be done by the design of the plank...(the man would be pushed from front and back) and tie a rope of sorts around the nuts to pull the nuts out as far as possible.

Several years ago, just as I arrived and parked at the trailhead of a popular wilderness hiking area, two young women came up to me and said that they had been raped by a man with a gun. A few moments earlier, as I had driven into the parking area, I had passed an old gray car that was leaving, so I actually saw the rapist's car!
I will never forget the expression of abject horror on one girl's face. The other girl was much more composed - perhaps the shock had not yet set in. Anyhow, the Sheriff was called and eventually arrived and took care of things. I read about the gory details of the rapes in the newspaper a few days later. The DNA matched that of a serial rapist, who was eventually apprehended and turned out to be a local resident of the area.

I am sure that an inventive type among us could come up with a suitable "chopping block" of the proper size.
It wouldn't surprise me to find such an item already in the inventory of an S&M mistress....

Hi All,
The correct way to do it is much as Kangan described except that you use the blade from a woodworking plane carefully positioned over the spot where the cut is to occur. Then give it a clout with the mallet.
It's quite painless provided you don't hit your thumb with the mallet.

Be sure to sharpen the blade first!
