Many (most?) friends and interviewers who have approached me said they were simply unaware that people like me existed. Why this silence? It's easy to be ashamed of our (a?)sexuality, and remain hidden as the gay or transgendered community has been for so many centuries. But when we dissapear into the shadows, we hide a very real part of ourselves. We are here, and we are very real. We did not ask to have these feelings, and we are - or want to become - eunuchs. If we are forced to hide this side of us, do we truely exist at all?
If a tree falls in a forest - and theres nobody around to hear it - does it even make a sound?
These are exactly the issues other minorities have had to deal with. Would it not make sense then - with all this media attention - to turn our focus to the streets and join in Manchester Pride 2007 (http://www.manchesterpride.com/)? Drink truely heroic amounts in the party to end all parties?
I don't know. It was a weird thought that seemed to make sense. Before I write any emails to the organizers, I would like to get some idea of peoples' feelings.
Are we to be proud? Or would we rather choose shame?
