Re: Things You Didn't Know (nothing funny just interesting)
Please, people -- number 27 is, and always was, entirely false. "Rule of Thumb" had to do with using the thumb as a measurement tool when making things, like furniture. The only known legal reference to any such rule as the paragraph proposes was when one judge, in one case in the 1600's mentioned such a rule as having existed sometime in the past. But he never included a citation, and despite exhaustive research, legal scholars have never, EVER discovered a record of any such law, rule, or custom throughout the long history of either American law or English common law (upon which U.S. law is based). Indeed, both traditions have had strong and long-standing prohibitions against wife beating.
So this definition of "Rule of Thumb" is a total feminist fabrication. If you see a list like this that includes this definition, please delete that reference. Don't persist in passing along a lie, because a lie that is big enough, and repeated often enough, soon becomes accepted as truth, and becomes the basis for all manner of societal mischief.

And Susan Lucci is NOT the daugher of Phyllis Diller. That's an urban legend.

Claim:Actress Susan Lucci is the daughter of comedienne Phyllis Diller.
Status: False.
Origins: Rumors that some well-known actor or actress is really the child of an equally prominent but unlikely parent have long been a feature of the motion picture industry. Indeed, wild tales about the questionable ancestry of famous people are found all throughout history. Whereas historical examples of this phenomenon were often attempts to discredit the subject (frequently a political figure) by associating him with someone despised by the public, the "movie star" rumors are generally little more than entertainment concocted to amuse by associating a star with a "parent" who is the opposite in appearance or personality.

Just to contradict, folding money IS made from paper. However, paper can be made from many different sources. Originally it was the papyrus reed, but wood pulp, cotton; wool, flax, silk etc can be used. In fact any material which has a long 'staple' can be used to produce a form of paper.
