As promised, the place I work for and formally Bboy, has erected a flagpole "in the honor of co-workers and friends that are no longer with us". It is very tall, well lit, and has an enormous flag flying at the top.
The monument has arrived and it bears Bboy's name along with another. There are 15 spots for names so there has been some question as to the wisdom of the purchaser of the monument regarding the actual choice of rock and our current collective desire to not have our names included on the monument.
Non-the-less it is a very powerful presence and a very powerful statement to those memories engraved. The casual passerby WILL stop and look. I feel very odd walking past the site every day due to it's presence.
Early next month the dedication will take place and all that know the two on the monument are welcome. Work is springing for the round-trip flights of some of Bboy's family. We shall speak of the happy parts of the lives of those named in hopes of keeping away any tears.
However.
The other gentleman on the monument was a veteran and it is planned that the local color guard will attend. I have advised against this soley for the reason of keeping tears down to the minimum. I believe my words were "if you do this everyone in the crowd will be crying" and there was great consideration about this wisdom, but it looks like we will have a color guard assembly.
After the dedication all are invited to retire to Bboys family resturant, but I won't attend. I have the radio show Bboy and I did together and what would he say if I took a day off.
Will let you know how it goes after the dedication.

Talula,
He'd say the show must go on - and unless there are fire ants crawling all over your body and eating YOU, then you must remain professional and to the point.
