🤘Happy Independence Day!🇺🇸

Why didn't Maine sign on ? :tongueout

Parroting the 4th as we loose the meaning of the 4th is hardly a celebration,

except for the inebriated!

Coming in less than 6 months, parrot Christianity

and "hate thy neighbor unless there is a profit otherwise".

🤷

da 4th FREEDOM before the NSA

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, (like e-records?) against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Does anyone remember FREEDOM,

or is praising it good enough?

Moi 🚬Ever notice that every time freedom is taken away, it's done with flag waving and patriotic fervor? What patriotic American could object to something called the Patriot Act?

I remembered the 4th by asking a Brit if they would have us back. (No) They don't consider it to be Good Riddance day, but instead with a smile, Uppity Colonist day.

You know in British history King George III is considered a great king, only one little tick mark on him, foot note really, "lost the colonies". Its all done with a smile, GB and the USA are great friends, relatives really when you think about it, its like they are uncle George.

Here's another one for you, Sandi. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created by the Frank-Dodd Act of 2010 to protect us from unfair, deceptive or abusive acts and practices. To protect us, it currently collects information monthly for nearly 600 million personal credit card accounts. They want to monitor 95% of all credit card transactions by 2016. The reason is that they cannot do careful cost-benefit analyses without good data.

Hope you did not leave home without your cards.

Look forward to posts about the cruise!

RiverI understand George also had another tick mark (or tic?): he went mad. His erratic behavior has been theorized to be poisoning or the effects of some physical illness, but recent research suggests that he was really insane or at least bipolar.

The credit card thing reminds me of a song from the play Man of La Mancha, which contains the repeated line, "We're only thinking of him." It was sung by sisters who were definitely thinking only of themselves. "Yes, folks, we're collecting this data for your own good. We're only thinking of what's best for you. Trust us. Only thinking of you."

As for the cruise reports, that'll probably have to wait for our return. While we're visiting friends before the cruise I can use my brother's computer, but on the trip, I'll just have a cell phone, and that makes writing much a real pain. And, besides that, shipboard Internet access is expen$ive.
