How to be banned
Since I'm sure that, after the very public banning of Nestor AEgrotatus (see thread http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php?26316-Must-Know), there will be members wondering about how often individuals are BANNED from the EA. I've gone down into the bowels of the site and have found 37 times that someone has been banned since 2006 (when the records begin). Of those 37, at least 9 are of the same individual attempting to reregister under a different name after an initial ban. At least another three are also attempts at reregistering by previously banned individuals. It's definitely NOT easy to be banned from this site. Individuals who transgress the very loose policies here are warned. They are generally warned more than once. It's difficult to be banned.

Then again I remember one who got a warning and then told the Op where to get off. Yep he was one of those 37. I looked out there and I found I have ban one person in the last three years. Yep, it takes quite a bit to get hammered from this site.

Re: How to be banned
I thought the easiest way to get banned was to *Censored* Paolo near his *Censored* and tell him that it would have been *Censored* if I had *Censored* his *Censored* instead.
Did I say that out loud?

Even the people who read those tend to fail to comprehend them.
You hear about the ten thousand dollar prize for reading the EULA that went unclaimed for ten years? Some software company tried it as an experiment, and…
In ten years, nobody actually read and comprehended the license sufficiently to claim the free money.

EULAs are actually not relevant to this, because they are:
1. written in worst form of legalese.
2. usually boil down to "if it breaks - it is you problem, we have nothing to do with it and are not responsible. we can sell you and your data anywhere we like".
3. they appear at the worst possible time, while clicking next, next, next on installation.
4. in some locations local laws take precedence over EULA, making it actually useless.

They also train people to ignore such things - including even the loose policies tEA favors - or cause them to glaze over more easily.

I just follow basic nettiquete, it is usually enough.
This, and common sense.

Yeah, since I've forgotten most of the rules of most of the forums I frequent (I promise, I actually read them! They just blur together!) this is how I get by. :p
Never really had a problem, so…
I guess the "how to be banned" stuff here can be summed up simply as "Be a persistent troll".
Re: How to be banned
It's a pretty safe bet that unless you're flaming, trolling, or posting tons of spam, then you're not going to get banned.
