Help needed with story on becoming a eunuch

Post by KrisLawson (imported) »

Hi everyone,

My name is Kristofor Lawson - I'm a producer with SBS Television in Australia. I'm posting this message with Kristoff's permission.

The program I work for is called The Feed - we cover a lot of news, technology, and culture stories. Our feature stories are unlike regular news - they are more like short documentary pieces told in the words of the people we interview. We try not to editorialise our feature stories and let the people we speak with tell their own story. Here's a couple of links to give you an idea of the types of stories we produce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqTmpO1jwog - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SFHAz8K6c4

The story I'm producing at the moment is on people who are looking to be castrated and become a eunuch by either having the orchiectomy procedure or going further and also having a penectomy. We'll be looking at why people have the desire to be castrated, the options available medically, if any, and some of the difficulties or emotional triumphs with making that decision. Of particular interest we want to show the diversity of people who have this desire and some of the misconceptions in the broader community about why people want to make the male to eunuch transition.

I've spoken with Richard Wassersug for my story and I'm hoping to interview him when he comes to Australia next month. He's given me a lot of research and advice that will greatly inform how we tell the story. He also suggested I post a call-out here to find people to talk with. Kristoff knows I've spoken with Richard.

If anyone on the forum is willing - I'd love to find out your personal story. Anyone who talks to me can remain completely confidential at this stage. I'm particularly interested in talking to anyone located in Australia but would very much love to hear stories from across the world.

If anyone is willing to share your story; You can either send me a message here on the forum - or send me an email to kristofor.lawson@sbs.com.au.

Regards,

Kristofor Lawson

Are you looking only for pre-castrated males, or do you also have an interest in neutered males?

KrisLawson, a gracious request and an interesting topic -at least for us here. Thank you.

However, not all attention from the media has been positive for us in the past, so I suspect that many may share a reluctance to come forward, even with such a cordial and careful invitation. Society has not been welcoming of our castrated or neutered state; even the medically lifesaving cancer procedures have been viewed with morbid fascination, and seldom result in acceptance of the individual as a wholly valid creature. Those who electively choose this castrated life face an even harder road to acceptance -even with long-time friends and colleagues. Many prefer to remain anonymous and enjoy the preference privately. Even so, it would appear from postings on this site, not many regret such a change in lifestyle. Most report life as being much improved.

So, I think the project would make for "good television", boosting ratings and revenue. I just wonder how comfortable even an excellently crafted SBS masterpiece would make most EA members feel.

-Yes, I am happy with my castrated state following testicular disease both sides. It took some adaptation, but life is good now. What remains is in fine working order, as is our marriage. We just don't tell people, or they'd be horrified.

I can't speak for those whose choice is wholly elective. Hopefully others can.

Hi Kris Lawson,

I would be more than happy to share my story with you. Unlike many others vietually everyone I know is aware of my staus as a eunuch. It is something that has its roots in my birth. Please feel free to PM me, and we can arrange a time to discuss it.

I agree with daifu-orchid.

What media is nowadays, is 99% entertainment. Even news are a type of entertainment called infontainment.

It is very typical for people who represent modern media to sell sensation. And there is nothing holy in doing that. First these people are very pollite trying to win your trust. And then, when there is a right time and place you can not withdraw anymore you will be asked sudden questions that are meant to entertain the public. And afterward you are thrown away like used item.

So be careful! Do not let yourself being entertained with!

Though there are few honest journalists. Always ask before hand what is going to be asked. Make sure when you say something off record, do not allow to use everything you say, as by default everything what you say is used as journalists please to use. Do not feel free! It is an ultimate desire for a journalist to get you feel free and safe and open yourself up to him/her. Be alerted, think before you say anything. Better twice. Journalist is not your friend. He is doing his work and tries to earn public attention. Do not forget that.

Ask journalist about his background, his works. Google about his articles and other works to see what kind of person he is.

I'm looking to talk to both pre-castrated males and also neutered males. I think the more people I can speak with the better. I'm not on a deadline for this story so I want to take the time to speak with as many people as possible to make sure I represent the issues of the community fairly and accurately.

Kris,

I am not castrated, but I have been working toward that result for decades. I am in a marriage for over 30 years and my wife is very supportive. I am the journey of metal change for fantasy to reasoned decision. If you like PM me.

Hi Raymar,

I tried to send you a PM last week but apparently I haven't been on the forums long enough to do that. I'd love to talk to you and find out your story. Would you be able to
