Opinions, so the saying goes, vary. One of my handy reference books is Prosser and Keeton, Torts, 5th Edition, and I find the references for misrepresentation and mistake to indicate a decent way of solving the national debt.

Why so? Because, in my licensed capacity as a registered professional engineer, I observe that the national debt is of the form of both mistake and misrepresentation; and is, under color of law, a statute of frauds matter.

I'm glad he's out of the hospital; hospitals are not great places to be. Right now he may have more important things to do than argue politics.
