Retrograde Ejaculation

Post by billie_tv (imported) »

I was wondering if anyone on certain medications has experienced "retrograde ejaculation."

I was just about to have an orgasm when I felt- well... slightly different, and then I looked down and nothing came out. Well, the smallest amount of what looked to be pre-cum, but that was it. Is this a reversible condition. And what of the common antiandrogens and hormone regimes causes this?

To me, it felt nice, but I was shocked when I saw I was dry. I thought it would take longer, or I'd have to be on something stronger.

I never heard of that happening with medication.

I've read that certain anti-depressants, such as Zoloft, can cause this.

I'm using a generic form of Avodart that causes me the same problem. I can orgasm but not ejaculate. Not a drop comes out. The sensation is pleasant enough but isn't as satisfying as a good spurt.

Same here Slammr..I've been taking it for a swollen prostate now for 6-8 months...Every once in awhile I come and there is ejaculate..sometimes copious amounts...but I would say that might be one in twenty or thirty orgasms that are liquid...the others are totally dry and without the same intensity...

I've been thinking about what causes these wet orgasms VS the dry ones.

I think it's the degree of stimulation...(or perceived stimulation)...

I took Flomax (tamsulosin) for a while a few years back, to ease urinary retention. The RE effect was immediate - a dry orgasm (no pre-cum) after the first dose. Orgasms were a bit of a let down; I'm convinced part of the pleasure is the rush of ejaculate. I only completed one prescription (28 days), after which things returned to normal after 3/4 days. However, I'm sure that ever since, my erections have been softened slightly and without stimulation they sag pretty quickly (but hey, that could be old age too :-\...)

Lack of ejaculation != retrograde ejaculation, which is your ejaculate going in instead of out (gawd, is that painful! I used to get that frequently). It seems only natural to expect your ejaculate volume will reduce or be eradicated when taking anti-androgens and/or estrogens, I guess from shrinkage of prostate and testes functionign at less than peak.

I also had retrograde ejaculation with FLOMAX and I found it much less sexually satisfying, but most men taking are older (I was 36) and "most older men are just glad to be able to pee" and "aren't trying to be a porn star or anything." That was a quote from my Urologist. I told him that I had no problem with retro. ejac. it was the lack of satisfaction that bothered me.

He put me on generic Cardura and I had no problems since, in fact now I DO cum like a "porn star" and it feels great! I hope that helps those of you who either want to cum buckets, or not at all. For those of you who want decreased sensation, anything used for nerve pain will do that, like anti-seizures like Neurontin, or anti-depressants like Cymbalta. I had problems with those types of meds because of side-effects, but will likely go back on some form due to chronic widespread nerve pain.

I hope that helps! Later... Buddy. :dong:

Years ago, my wife would sometimes play with me and make me cum when she got up in the morning before me. I enjoyed the orgasm and would then roll over and go back to sleep for another hour or so. But there was always the issue of semen. We found that pressing firmly on the urethra below my scrotum would induce a real retrograde ejaculation where the normal amount of semen would be forced into the bladder to mix with urine and be expelled later. This was great as far as preventing messes and there was no decrease in the pleasure of my orgasm. And, no, it wasn't painful either.
