A Ho Chi Minh City man's penis was successfully reattached after his wife allegedly cut it off while he was sleeping.

"It took me more than two hours to reattach his penis," said Dr Duong Quang Vu of Cho Ray General Hospital.

"Luckily, the operation was successful, and his penis will soon operate normally."

Vu said yesterday the victim's family reported the couple had argued over an extramarital affair he had.

The victim had come home drunk on Sunday night and had argued with his wife. After he went to sleep, she allegedly cut off his penis with a fruit knife.

We've heard and read about cases like this year after year, I just have a hard time understanding how it can happen. How can it be cut off so quickly and apparently without the man being able to prevent it? O.K. the man might be drunk, that lessens his ability to prevent it and possibly feel it being cut off. Oriental women are skilled at using knives, so that adds to the efficiency and speed at which they're able to cut it off. So is it done in one quick motion? Do they use a cutting board? Is it easier to cut off a penis when it's flaccid or erect? If it's erect, the blood must pour out when it's being cut. I suppose a very very sharp knife can cut completely through the normal human penis in one swift motion, but I think they must still use a cutting board to do it. Without a cutting board to hold the penis against, I doubt that the penis could be severed without a sawing type action and I think the first sawing motion would alert even the drunkest of men, unless he's extremely bombed, which could be the case. I wish some of these women who cut off their lover's penises were interviewed, I'd love to learn their methodology. Someday some disgruntled woman is going to film the dismemberment as a way of storing the memory, maybe some woman has already, allowing the public to view it though would never happen. Well, excuse my ramblings, I need more coffee.

P.S. Sometimes the women feed the severed member to ducks or dogs, one woman chopped up her lovers dismembered penis with a chopper, so there's less than a 50% chance that once cut off, the penis will be or can be reattached.

Knives can be very sharp. I can envision how someone could easily slide through a limp penis when the subject is out cold (from booze or drugs).

The pain should awaken them (unless they are zonked from drugs then they might not even know what happen).

One could easily bleed to death that way if completely unconscious.

He is lucky she didn't just slice off the entire genital package.

One wonders why she didn't dispose it or chop it up so it could not be reattached. It must be a very bizzare experience for both of them.

I would imagine it will take a long time before it has any feeling back in it, and it may never be the same again.

Those penis reatachments will not make it function as before, yes they can pee out of it but erections are another matter. The severed nerve damage and scar tissue preventing proper blood flow can doom hardons forever.

You don't have to cut it off. Erect or not, just dip it in liquid nitrogen. Then tap it with a small hammer and it will shatter into a thousand pieces. Reattachment is then of course impossible.
