Any UK members using AOL?

Post by modick68 (imported) »

Im in the UK and use AOL as my internet service provider.

Ever since last summer my download speeds have dropped to an extremely slow speed while on EA, BME, BME IAM, BME video, and many more "sensitive" sites, other sites such as ebay or youtube are as fast as normal, but trying to open pages on this site can take anything up to 5 minutes!! and bme video downloads have dropped to around 3kbps !!!

I am on broadband and should be getting 1meg speeds max, 3kbps is slower than what my dialup used to be!

I really need to know if its just me or are other UK AOL users having the same problems, i need to know if its AOL that is blocking these types of sites before i switch to another service provider.

lets hope i get some responces to this!

Didn't UK parliament pass some assinine rules about "porn" online? I recall some discussion here I think last summer. You might be getting monitored. Then again, you ARE dealing with AOL (Assholes on Line, as they are so often known). Perhaps you might see if there is a real ISP in your area, and switch.

I second that. AOL is a joke in any country.

I'm in the US but I can't use AOL to access EA, it's so slow I can access the page and go downtown to get a cup of tea and it still won't be up when I get back, I use internet explorer, works fine.

Problem Solved, Just dont use A O Hell. Ive been told that they do have FBI servers in their back rooms monitoring all activity.

Of course that could be a rumor set up by the paranoid.

Just because im Paranoid doesnt mean they are not out to get me.
