Does anyone know why Androgel should not be applied to the scrotum or penis? I love the feel of it when I rub it in. Why are you supposed to put it on the arms or torso?

Because it absorbs better on the chest, shoulders, and arms. From what I understand the type of medium does not absorb well in the area of the genitals. You also want to spread it on over a larger area to allow better and more stable absorption transdermally.

Androgel is absorbed best when applied over an area that has muscle close to the surface and very little fat. Also, in my case at least, due to the high alcohol content, it stings like a m***erf***er when rubbed on the genitals (yes, I had to try it for myself!) --FLO--

actually it absorbs many times better on the scrotum, the problem is the scrotum is special porous skin and the alcohol gets right into it, and burns like hell. Ya, i just HAD to try it too. The is why EMLA cream almost instantly works on the scrotum and glans also. The problem is everyone's scrotum is different so dosing is an issue to measure the proper dose for adsorption in this manor.

I use Testim and it says to only use it on your shoulders and upper arms and NOT on the stomach. I have spread it on my upper chest with no adverse effects. Have not tried it on my scrotum mainly because it smells of too much alcohol content. Have thought about it though. The most it could do is sting like crazy. Wonder if it would burn the hair off for good?

Thanks. Absorption was the reason the doctor gave, but they seem so insistent about avoiding the genitals, I thought there might be a reason such as, "it will make your balls shrink". Wishful thinking, I guess. By the way, I also tried it and liked the alcohol feeling.

There is some evidence that when applied to the scrotum it absorbs too fast, and the body tends to convert more of it to DHT.

I believe I read, that it is absorbed far better through the scrotum tissue, but that the tesosterone converts even higher to DHT there. I used to put mine on the scrotum, as it made me more aggressive, so maybe it is true about it absorbing better. But what was weird , is that while I was more aggressive, it seemed to not make me as horny, as if I had only applied it to the chest, abdomen, and shoulders.
