Tugon bought a diet book....

and I hope it is not too late.😄

The book is "Eat This Not That". Watching the Today Show they interviewed the author and he was talking about how many of us are calorie unaware. For example one restaurants turkey burger and fries is 1,171 calories and at the same restaurant you could have a seven ounce sirloin steak, green beans and mushrooms for 464 calories. I knew french fries should be avoided but I had no idea the calories in turkey burgers that I once thought was a good choice. Now if I am going out to eat I check the restaurant in the book and make my low calorie choice before I arrive.

The book also starts by telling you what you should eat everyday for health. They have a section of foods called gut busters that no one should eat. They even compare frozen food entrees and other foods while shopping. Some of the drinks and coffees might shock you. For someone like me who lives alone, visits restaurants and uses prepared meals this is a help.

This is more realistic for me and the way I live. Yes I should stock the fridge with fresh veggies, fish, chicken and prepare my meals but this probably will not happen. Now when I jump in the car and drive to shout in the clowns mouth for lunch I have already made the best choice I can.

I enjoy having a small comprehensive reference to use while shopping and dining. I think this will help. After all the restaurants were not telling me that their "healthy" items were so loaded with calories.:shakemitk

since i eat mostly pre-prep meals and such, i will have to check that book out. I tend to just rely on the fat/cal #s displayed, but at restaurants i have no clue.

Weight Watchers has some really good resources on all that as well. My wife bought the kit for about $100 and followed it religiously. It has comprehensive resources on healthy eats in various restraunts that really came in handy for wife. The plan is too regimented for me personally, but seemed to be exactly what my wife needed.

Will have to keep an eye out for that book. At my age (and no balls) I find I am expanding a little so need to watch things. Dr. said to google "ideal weight" and see if I was gettijng overweight. Seems I am only 5 lbs over the ideal weight. I weigh 165 and should be at 160.

Best of luck. I've found that exercise is as important as anything else in weight management in middle age. I've lost 20 #s in the last few years mostly from running (2-3x/wk and 40 km total), cycling (200 km weekly), swimming and a few court sports with others. I've not worried about eatingless, though it's helpful to try to eat healthily.
