Everyone knows that if you are going to operate a business in today’s world you need a domain name. It is advisable to look at the domain name selected as other see it and not just as you think it looks. Failure to do this may result in situations such as the following (legitimate) companies who deal in everyday humdrum products and services but clearly didn’t give their domain names enough consideration:

1. A site called ‘Who Represents‘ where you can find the name of the agent that represents a celebrity. Their domain name... wait for it... is

I heard about some guys years ago who were into brown sex.

They established a group called "Solid Waste" or "Hazardous Waste" or some such name and listed in on the early internet and in phone books. (such clubs did phone sex stuff before instant messages). They got inquiries from legit companies asking about toxic waste disposal and municipal wastes.

Can't you just here that phone conversation from a legitimate company?

That takes me back a ways. When I was a youngster growing up there was a (sort of) landfill, well, an old gravel pit that they were filling in with trash. Down in the opposite side of it it had dried up and was grown up in weeds, trees & such. We made trails through the underbrush.

We would meet down there, boys and girls and ...well, you know, DO things.

None of our group ever told on each other and we had some GOOD times without interference.

Good thing that we never got caught. We would have been sent to 'pervertus colonies' to be 'rehabilitated', probably. We were pretty young and we kept secrets and told each other all that we knew about sex. Some practice, not much. Mostly touch and feel, no penetrative stuff. We were kind of young for that. Somehow we didn't really count it as sex, first base, etc. It was not conquest, but fun.

Of course we treated each other kindly and after Jr. High we just kind of drifted apart... there was about 3-4 boys and maybe 6 girls, and the groups always varied in size. You had to promise not to tell what went on to anyone to get included in the antics.

I have not seen any of that group in over 30 years.

Not quite a website name, but one of the early books about website design put out by Microsoft used a bunch of example site names, which MS failed to register as theirs... Someone noticed this, and grabbed the domain, and put up a site that collected seriously offensive materials...

At least one set of photos also rated listing on the 'stupid criminal list' where a couple killed and dismembered her former boyfriend, documented the procedure w/ a film camera (remember those?) and then dropped the film off at the local drugstore for processing.... (I once worked at a lab that did processing for a bunch of drug and grocery stores, and can guarantee that your photos WERE seen by at least one person as part of the process...)
