so slow loading pages letely

Hi, my ISP is AOL and i live in the UK
in the last 3 months or so sites like this one and bme and many others which are classed as extreme topics seem to take ages to load pages from, upto 2 minute for one page and im on 575k broadband!
i have heard that aol could be limmiting the band width to sites like this one, could this be true?
is anyone els have slow loading problems?

Not with Virgin. Normal fast load.

No problem here also (Netherlands) only when i'am downloading very much. And when the kids are onnline. Using dsl from orange

The chances are that you do NOT have 575k broadband. The advertised speed may not be available where you are. There is a website, but unfortunately the url escapes me, which will tell you what the highest speed is available where you are.
Changing the ISP may not make a difference.
I sometimes get a similar problem - oddly enough most often when loading the BTYahoo home page, but then I am only on dialup and usually no more the 33kbps. I rarely have a problem with the archive.

nope, i dont have a virus because i reformatted everything and reinstalled everything, and its still just as slow, my friends computer next door is also just as slow and hes on dsl too and also using AOL, perhaps aol is the virus!
it makes no difference using firefox or IE.
My speed is 575k i did a speet test, and non extreme sites like youtube and ebay are as fast as always, downloads from non extreme sites are at around 50kbs, but if i go to the following sites: EA, BME, BME video,BME IAM, LPSG, and several others to do with "cock" they take several minutes to load pages, bme video download speeds are at only 7kbs! this is worse than dialup!! any ideas what could be wrong here, not forgetting that my friends computer next door is also just as slow on these sites.

I have noticed this problem, i was unable to open pages. it was taking several minutes to open a page. After looking round, i have found that if i access the site via the below link, i have significant speed increases:

Is this working faster?
