Severe psychological problem with attached penis

Remember the Chinese story about the man who lost his penis in an accident and doctors successfully transplanted the penis of a brain dead man's penis on to his stump? Then this:
"Although the operation was a surgical success, surgeons said they had to remove the penis two weeks later. "Because of a severe psychological problem of the recipient and his wife, the transplanted penis regretfully had to be cut off," Dr Hu said. An examination of the organ showed no signs of it being rejected by the body."
I reread this story and had to ask, "What kind of a man would give up a new penis after losing his own? How could it be that difficult to accept?" Now he's got a stump again. No further explanation was ever given, so I've had to come up with my own conclusions.
1) The man's wife could not except having sex with another man's penis or the penis scared her.
2) The penis was the wrong color.
3) The penis had a mind of it's own and controlled the man, telling him what to do.
4) The man himself felt as though he was in a "symbiotic" relationship with the man whose penis he now had, and it was not beneficial to him.
(A symbiotic relationship is between two people in which each person is dependent upon and receives reinforcement, whether beneficial or detrimental, from the other).
