Hello all,

I am thinking about trying androcur for a few months, can you tell me what the pro's, con's and all the affects there are with this drug.

I heard that it can cause breasts to develop, i really don't fancy that, how soon can this happen, how noticable is it and how long will it take for the breasts to disapear once i stop taking the drug.

Also, how much would i need to totaly eliminate all my desire for sex ( I masterbate once our twice daily at the moment) and how long would this take and what and amounts and when should i take it in.

There are many threads telling of personal experiences. Every one has some difference from what others experience. Many tell of their doses. Think many start out at 100mg of androcur to start. Some will be able to reduce the dose and still have castration effects. Others may need a higher dose. It is best to take the least amount of chemical castration drugs that will still offer you the castration results. You can read my experience here. Years being castrated and I still get somewhat of a erection from time to time.

Getting enlarged breasts is common with all castrated guys if they do not take male hormones. Your adrenal gland will still produce both male and female hormones. Have heard as much as 10 % of your total testosterone can be made by the adrenal gland. To put it more easy you will get some enlargement in breasts, period. Your size will vary from person to person.

There is no drug that will total eliminate all sexual desire. Unless you are in a vegetable state. The brain is a very powerful sex organ. Remember a baby and how often he gets erections. Almost every time they take a leak he gets hard. His male hormones are at a very low state. So to really be totally without any sexual desire you would need to be almost brain dead. Oh forgot that some brain dead people still get erections. Castration can greatly reduce sexual desires, but also cause many other effects to the body and brain.

What you want is a common desire of people coming to this site. For most it is just a fantasy and should remain that way.

I would strongly suggest you go to the menu bar at the top of the forums, select search, and enter Androcur. It will bring up hunds of citations all over the EA. Do read, you will find lots of answers to your questions that have been discussed extensively.

I took the generic version of it for about a year.

It had side effects of depression - I gained weight...

Now I DID grow breasts but for me that was the point, but still e ven with Estrogen I only got to a full A cup.

I did not notice any "major" breast development on just Androcur - odds are you'll get sore and tender and poke a bit out but nothing you could not take a shirt off at the beach with.

I had depression effects and I don't GET depressed - it snuck up on me and life hit me pretty hard with a few bad things that already were happening - but the Androcur made them worse.

There is some moodiness too, best to keep your mouth shut while the first week happens - IN THE EVENT you experience any anger... No offense intended - tha'ts my own advice to myself!!

It reduced the sexual desire enough that I didn't do anything for MONTHS.....things shrank...and it took a LONG time to get it all back, like 2 full months......

Androcur works well. My doseage was 50mg a day, 100mg for the first week.

Me so far anyways:

100mg first week killed morning erections then dropped to 50mg per day, still felt a bit listless, then for the last few weeks been on 25mg per day, and feel pretty much normal. A old muscular injury has come back to haunt me I am not sure if it is related or not. Felt little tiny bits of depression, kind of like...well now that my sex drive is gone, whats the point??, its like my mind had to have time to reset and instead of thinking about sex every 20 milli seconds its had to fill up with other stuff. I do find myself now thinking about other things and I have resurrected some other hobbies, so far all in all its a good thing.

I have some libido which is want I want but my drive is lessened significantly. Wife wanted sex the other morning and because she actually wanted sex (which is unusual) my motor started without any difficulty, everything seemed normal but I guess she did not have all that funk leaking out of her (she did not notice though)

Even at 25mg per day I am not getting any morning woody and when I do see if it still works it takes some effort and nothing much comes out (if anything). It has also definitely reduced my desire to masturbate, mainly still do out of habit, nearly obligation but even that feeling is going away...

So all I can say are pros, cons are at higher dosages it made me feel like crap, a bit nauseous, headachy lack of energy. But I only really had to put up with that for the first few weeks...as I say at 25mg per day I feel pretty much normal less the drive

Just remember, Androcur can crash the level of your hormone very quickly but it takes a lot longer for your mind and body to get used to the change.

Remember it takes a long time to come back too, at least 2 full months!

For me anyway.

I did some reading on Androcur yesterday and found that depression is a side effect of over dosage!!

50mg was over dosage for me so I'm going to order more and use my remaining supply at 25mg and get back on it!!!!

Oh yeah!!!!!! I miss it..

Well,I've been taking Androcur [Siterone ...it's cheaper but the same]for 6 weeks and I can certainly attest to it's affects. Very quickly , within a week I no longer had dreams of sex {I used to have alot of sexual dreams} and still don't. Within a week I no longer had night time erections and still don't . The only time I get hard is when my wife instigates affection , which is what I wanted . I got hot flushes within the first few days , but they don't bother me , my skin is drier , my hair is not falling out . I feel much more tired alot [listless] , For the first time ever I could not come [had sex this morning ] and even after when she tried to get me to come by masterbation I could'nt even though I was as hard as ever , didn't really bother me though because I feel closer to my wife than before taking androcur [a good side effect of this drug I think is that one feels closer to those you love] I , like you masterbated once or twice daily . I have not had the need or urge to do so after the first week on androcur . I usually take 2 x tablets daily , sometimes one , depends on how I feel .

Personally, I like the affects this has on me , but I may have to drop to 1 x tablet daily because my wife was dissappointed that she could not make me come , she felt like she can't satisfy me [ she know's I'm taking androcur ]

Things is, I've had a total of about 3 sexual dreams in my life so I can't really say that's changed much! [Perhaps I am asexual after all.] For the last several evenings, I haven't even tried to get an erection to 'test' how things are going. I'm usually always into experimenting but the interest just isn't there and I'm not bothered by that. So far, I haven't had any thing like hot flashes, at least what I'd expect them to be. Sometimes I feel slightly warmer than I think I should. I will be going to my GP on Tuesday so he can start monitoring me while I remain on Androcur.

Two years on 50mg per day, and it works perfectly.

That's how it goes, it sneaks up on you and one day you realize you don't even WANT to think about it...

Keep an eye on depression, if you see it cut your dose in HALF and keep it that way for a couple of weeks, still there cut in half ag ain.

For me 25mg was still MORE than enough!!
