How many members?

At some point in the distant past, VBulletin began assigning each new registrant at the Eunuch Archive an identification number. Since old records do not seem to have been retained through all of the various crashes and troll attacks, I can only tell that the current numbering began when there were about 400 registered members, who were assigned numbers in alphabetical order. A-1 is 14, Kristoff is 200, Paolo is 254, and Talula is 340. There are no records available for anyone who is no longer registered as a member.

Since that time, many members have dropped off the Archive for a variety of reasons. Some, such as Andrew, who made nearly 4,000 posts, got tired of being asked the same questions repeatedly and left for other venues. A few have been banned. Most, though, have been automatically dropped when they failed to log on for over a year.

How many have EVER been members of the Archive? How many have gone beyond lurking to actually registering? Our most recent registrant as I write this (Wheevil) is number 30,769 in the system. While some have certainly registered more than once, we can guess that there have been nearly 30,000 different individuals who have registered and been members here at some time.

If you are reading this and are NOT a member, it takes only a few minutes to register and to be able to post and join in the conversations.

To add to what Jesus has posted, not all posts were saved through all the mayhem of crashes, attacks and so on, but during that same period there have been nearly 85,700 posts here. The post above by Jesus is # 85,628.
