You made me go look it up. It was in the text for a fiction writing class I took back in the mid-80’s. The author quoted critic Laurence Gonzales, who said of rock music: “…lets you wander around in someone else’s hell for a while and see how similar it is to your own.” Apropos to fiction as well says the text author, and I agree.
