As of last thursday the 26th of July I was half way castrated. Due to some masses found on a ultrasound my urologist agreed to take out the testicle and have it tested for cancer. I knew it wouldn't be cancer as I had been injecting Everclear into it for six months every few weeks I would do a .5ml injection. But he agreed to do the surgery and insurance is paying for it so I said lets cut the bs of my trying to kill them on my own and have the doc get me half way there at least.

Now that it is gone though and a few weeks from now after surgery I am going to start a chemical castration regimen on depo shots for a few months and see how I like it. If I do like it then I will continue the Everclear injections(not recommended) in the right either until it is dead or the doc agrees to remove it like the other one. So because of what has traspired I am also being tested monthly by the doc for my hormone levels as he suspects a mass developing in my right. I have only injected .5ml of everclear into the right as of yet(not recommended). So we will be able to see how my hormone levels do and its all covered by insurance. Great!

The surgery itself wasn't too bad. It took about 40 minutes in the OR. I showed up to the hospital at 8 am. Did some blood work. Had an x-ray. Then at 8:45 I was given my first doses of Fentnyl and Versed. Really helped to relax. Then I went back to the OR at 9 am and the last thing I remember is the nurses asking me to move from my pre-op bed to the OR bed. After that they put the gas mask on and out I was. I remember awaking in post-op at about 10 am. The nurse said everything was fine and my wife would be in soon to see me.

They released me to go home at shortly after 12pm and I went home to my wonderful lazy-boy recliner with remote in one hand and my wife at any beckon I needed. Didn't bother her though as I slept mostly till about 6pm. Woke up and had a little bite to eat. Went to bed at 8pm and woke up at 6 am and got up and got ready for work. By then the anesthesia had completly worn off, only minor discomfort at my incision site. The incision is just below my bikini line almost directly the opposite side of getting your appendix taken out.(I have had mine removed for 15 years) The incision is roughly 3.5-4"s long and I am completely numb under the incision going towards the left side of my genitals. I still have complete feeling in my penis but otherwise it is just numb. In the last 48 hours my scrotum on the left has turned a very very dark purple. But it is slowly clearing. The swelling in my scrotum is gone now as well.

I guess the great thing about having my doc do it this way is that all the cords, and everything is gone. Nothing to worry about re-attaching to anything later on.

John Michel, "Everclear" is an extremely strong alcoholic drink, 180 or 190 proof I think (90 or 95% alcohol). I have myself tried a shot of the stuff, it was HOT all the way down. I think you can buy it in most liquor stores, but it is rare as the demand for it is not very big. It is too strong to drink straight, most folks mix it with water or something.

I have read of people injecting this nearly pure alcohol into their testicles to cause a castration, not really sure how well it works... Well, it has worked at least half way for "nutless sac" (hooray!) and I think that was really neat the way he got his health care coverage to take one testicle. Hope he can pull it off one more time this way!

Just an aside note.... if a woman even hints that she might want a hysterectomy, most doctors and HMO's are happy to facilitate her. But let a man even mention the "castr-----" word and (GASP!!) OH MY GOD! People act like it is sooooo un-natural and wrong. WHY? There are a lot of clearly known benefits to castration, it is clearly a good thing for some men, HMO's should offer castration for men, at least partial offset for the full medical costs (which in my humble opinion are way over inflated for this simple operation).

If I was an insurance company, I wouldn't want to pay thousands of dollars to cut your nuts off and then turn around and pay for the lifetime of aftercare i(treatment & Drugs) ncluding in MANY cases, depression, osteoporosis, metabolic disorder treatment etc. Although I think a man should be able to get it if he wants it he should pay for it and any complications and treatments caused by it. It's a good thing (for most of us) that there arn't "castration on demand" clinics in every town, as there would be a LOT of unhappy ball free guys around. Just look at all the people that try chemical castration and quit, due to the side effects. Thats just my "personal responsibility" view on it.

I am in nearly the exact situation as you were in. The unrecommended everclear injections in one testicle until it is now shrunken with hard lumps. I am going to see a Dr. about the lumps, but I did not realize he might consider removing the whole thing. Was the removal at the suggestion of your Dr. or did you make the suggestion? I would be very interested to know how the Dr. explains the masses after the biopsy comes back clean. Could you let us know what they say about the biopsy? Thanks.

Your logic is excellent and I'm quite sure this life time insurance thing is a factor in this. What chills me is that when women are given surgical Fem-astration they are can often be left in the cold for Hormone Replacement. Or they are led to believe its perfectly natural and left miserable and seeking mental health support.

Of course the whole thing about treating low hormones with SSRIs is a topic in itself and (I think) very depressing... *No pun intended...

I've come a long way around to see that for some men this sort of thing makes logical sense (Although for some cases I still don't agree) but do you really think this would every be popular for the average guy? I have a hard time seeing that.

Yes Mr.T, it is sad that so many women are castrated or sexually anesthetized by SSRI's or birth control pills.

The removal was at the suggesting of my GP and my UR doctors. Once it was removed it was four days later that my UR doc told me of the two lumps I had, one just on the inside and the other kind of right in the middle of the teste, that the lumps were benign and seemed to happen due to some type of trauma. He said they looked like lumps of scar tissue. I explained to him that it might of happened from my BMX racing days or when I played soccer when I was younger. I did get hurt in the nuts alot so it was a decent explaination and he bought it. I have a feeling if I told him about the injections he would have made notes on that and my insurance probably wouldn't have covered it.
