No wonder people don't want to post feedback and feelings get hurt - when you do, even if it's a compliment, you get TOTALLY denied!

If an author doesn't want to continue a story or write a sequel, fine. But at least have the courtesy to acknowledge positive comments. Personally, I will never waste my time and effort commending First Timer again.

Thanks alot, FT, fer nuthin. I appreciate your ZERO effort at recognition, in return for mine. c'ya.

Chip,

Now you know how most of the Authors feel.

Personally, I don't have time to post a comment to EVERY Author and EVERY story that gets posted. I figure a broad post as appears on the main page is good; none of us here have the TIME to do that, anyway, although we'd like to.

I have to say this is the first time I've seen someone upset about a Story/Author post going unanswered, however. If I had a dollar for every thread I attempted to start on this board, or the old ones, I could retire. Many of those never got a 2nd reply.

Take for example, my XY-n stories. With over 2,000 readers and more each day who hit each and every part - according to the hit tracker - you'd think SOMEONE other than the Archive regulars who like it would say SOMETHING. Guess what?

And I ALWAYS answer the email I get ...

I'm sorry to see that you're upset over lack of reply to a post, and while I'm glad you made the effort to say something, I think you're taking it a bit too personally. There could be a very valid reason as to why Frist Timer or any other Author doesn't pop into the thread and say "Thanks." Then again, maybe not ...

My advice is to not take it so personally. It's the thought that counts. You read it, you liked it, you said so. That should be enough.

You've both highlighted problems associated with anonymous internet contact.

I believe that most discerning people know why many users of this site are voyeurs rather than participants. However, we must appreciate that many of the minority who are active have very busy lives & can only respond to messages whenever they have time.

I'm fortunate in that I've taken a sabbatical to indulge myself & have such time to be productive, including replying to e-mails quickly, whereas others don't have the luxury.

I think that patience all round is needed.

Readers should continue praising authors where they see fit, as it will encourage further creative output, the lifeblood of the site, but not necessarily seek an immediate response for their efforts.

I do, though, consider that ultimate silence both ways could be damaging, if not fatal!

Thank you very much, Paolo and Pueros, for your thoughtful and insightful commentaries. You both said made some very legitimate points.

However, I just wanna make it clear that I'm not angry or offended by anyone or anything, specially not from something as petty as being ignored.

First of all, I had waited for quite some time to hear from the author. Meanwhile, I noticed that author did make some posts during that time, but didn't bother to spare a few minutes for a reply. I just think it's kinda rude to not take just like 5 seconds to answer someone's questions and acknowledge someone's compliments, specially if the poster (that's me!) is VERY pleased with an author's stories and is anxiously looking forward to more of the same kinds a stories or continuations of them.

Like I said, if the author doesn't wanna continue them or write more like them, then a very simple one-word answer, "NO" is all that it takes to answer the question and I would have been very grateful. That way, I'm not left hangin, waiting enthusiastically for a story that will never even have a chance of materializing. I'm sure everyone here knows what it's like to anxiously anticipate something, and wait and wait til it never happens. VERY disappointing. But that kinda disappointment could easily be avoided with the simple courtesy of a reply. That's all I'm sayin. I'm NOT scolding anyone or criticizing or anything like that at all. I don't expect anything at all from anybody.

Anyhow, this is a learning experience for me who's not used to postin stuff like this. Thanks again for your time guys. Have a great weekend.
