Looks like some kind of student art-class project, like an installation piece or something.
Incidentally, those figures fall deep, DEEP into the uncanny valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley). Androgynous characteristics aside, they're fucking creepy looking.
