Ruptured Tunica

I need a little help/advice.
I ruptured the tunica vaginalis surrounding my right testicle
on the 20th of March '07 during a moving accident.
I visited a general practitioner, was examined.
Apparently the doctor thought it was all in my head, I was told:
"I don't know what's wrong, just take an Aleve a day until the pain stops."
The Aleve didn't help at all, not to mention that there actually was a problem.
Now the small town that I recently moved to does not have a very large hospital, the nearest urologist is about a 2 hour drive away.
I was wondering, can a ruptured tunica be repaired or will I need to have the testicle removed? If it can be repaired is there a certain amount of time in which it's needs to be operated on before nothing can be done?
How much would it cost to be repaired?
And could I do it myself for a lot cheaper?
Thanks,
Samuel Hall
