Man castrated during sleep by wife, recovering

A man in southern Vietnam has had surgery to reattach his penis which was cut off by his wife following a quarrel – for the second time.

The 27-year-old man, name withheld, was rushed to a hospital in An Giang province last Saturday after his family found his sex organ had been severed by his wife while he was sleeping.

He was then transferred to Can Tho city where doctors succeeded in rejoining the penis.

They said he was recovering.

Amazingly, this was the second time his wife did it after once castrating him two years ago.

His family said both incidents were caused by quarrels between the couple.

It was also the second such incident for the Can Tho Central General Hospital this year, its staff said.

I'm getting the feeling that his wife wants him to either be a nullo or wants a divorce. Keep the knives away from that woman!

Wouldn't the cops, you know, throw her in jail eventually? I don't know about Vietnam, but here in the west, amputating another person's body parts without permission is generally frowned upon...

I could understand letting her get away with it once -- I mean, it would be pretty funny. Once I got past the pain I'm sure I could join in the giggles. But twice? That's just mean.

On a related note: a Chinese girlfriend of mine was probably the most volatile person I've ever met when she thought she had been betrayed. Not at all the typical image of a passive Asian woman. --FLO--

Come to think of it, aren't there a number of clinics over in asian countries that do genital surgeries? They must like cutting things. LOL

If he would quit getting it reattached there would be nothing for her to cut off.

I have used the word "castration" to name loss of testicles and "emasculation" to name loss of the penis. I know that this is not the usage everyone makes.
