Some Blood?

Post by fami (imported) »

Hello ~

I injected Depo provera today and followed the normal procedures, pushed all the air out of the syringe, used an alcohol swab to dis infect the outer quadrant prior to injection, inject and pulled back the plunger to check for blood. Well I pulled it back and saw no blood in the mixture so I went ahead and pushed the substance in. The thing is that after I pulled back the empty syringe and took a much closer look, the mixture inside was lightly pink instead of pure white. So some blood must have slipped inside .. it was nothing major, mostly lightly pink but I thought i'd ask here to see some responses ~

if you were in a vein, you'd have had a lot more than a tinge of pink. Sounds like a good injection.

I have never had anything but slight bleeding from the injection site. Typically stops seeping after about 20 seconds. I do notice some discomfort in the form of muscle soreness for a few days after the injections. This would be normal due to the muscle being filled with the fluid, similar to a tetanus shot. I would say that you are ok with what you described.

I have injected myself with depo provera just as you described. I was always very careful to clean and swab the injection site, and not stick the needle in too deep or too shallow. I never had any adverse reaction, infection, or troubles.

Thank you everyone ~

Everything went well I just finished a Progynon injection. Are you not supposed to push the needle in all the way? I was told the needle should be covered fully. Should I stay away from inserting it in all the way?

After the injection I sometimes see a light amount of the substance injected seeping out. I do not mind it much but one time it kept seeping for probably a minute or a little over that. Usually it stops seeping a few seconds after pulling the needle, I just wonder if I did anything wrong.
