Last year I believe about summer time there was a post about a group that meets to moon AMTRACK once a year. Anybody know anything about this year? Thanks.

I saw some reports about this on television several years ago. Also just did a Google search and found a website that announces this year's AmTrak Mooning.

It seems this has been going on for a number of years. This year is the 28th annual mooning of the AmTrak train. It is at Laguna Niguel, California. There is a section of railroad track lined with a chain link fence and a large number of people gather there one Saturday in July to stand outside the fence and moon the AmTrak trains and some other local metro type trains as they come by. Ridership that Saturday has just skyrocketed in recent years and from the posted schedule it looks like there are a total of some 8 or 10 passenger trains come by that day and get mooned. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday July 14, 2007.

Just go to Google and type in mooning the AmTrak train and a list of websites comes up, some even have pictures of people along the track mooning the train.

Well it could be I did have a friend who was an enginer she mooned me once when i was working in the fright yards.Maybe she is still doing it one never knows ........man she was a cutie

The short line railroad that I worked on had an old wooden road bridge over the tracks at one point. We always called it "Moon Bridge" because the local kids used to moon the passing trains from it. Years later, the county tore the bridge down and replaced it with a level crossing. Since it was part way up the crest of a hill, we changed the name to "Moon Ridge."

Actuallly mooning trains is not new nor limited to California. It happens all the time.
