I am planning a visit to Dr. K in the not too distant future and this led to an internal debate over castration alone or with scrotum removal. There is a big difference in cost, $1200 I believe, and healing process. With simple castration and rest, I think I could air travel home about three days later, and, no stitches to remove. Wtih the addition of scrotum removal I suspect more rest time and dealing with drain and later stitch removal is required. I am trying to get a handle on how much more risk and effort there is with the dual removal over the castration only. I do prefer the "smooth" look and wondered if time would suitably shrink the scrotum to have it hardly visible? I hope some members can share there experiences with me and I will answer all direct replies. Thanks so much in advance.

Re: After Surgery
I opted for the castration only when I saw Dr. Kimmel. My scrotum did shrink, but not as much as I hoped. However, I did heal pretty quick and I know that scrotum removal requires more healing. Why not choose castration and then scrotum removal later, which is what I did. If you're on a budget, it's the way to go.

Re: After Surgery
hash , i agree. not only is it a lot to have the whole lot removed, but i dont think mr.K is the man to do the works. castration is allot for the body to recover from. i did the first half and am looking to some day soon, possible get rid of the rest. however i like the soft flesh, and think maybe it could be used if i ever where to become a victim of burn.
my sack, has shrank a bit, some times its not really there at all.

Re: After Surgery
I vote for doing both at the same time. If your 100% sure that is what you want. If you are at all gender dysphoric you should do castration only. You might change your mind and want SRS in a few years. If you are set on having both removed, I recommend doing both at the same time. It is less traumatic on your body. The kicker is to have it done by the right surgeon. Dr. Alter did mine and it was a piece of cake. You do have the drain to fool with, but that is removed after 3-4 days. I think it also speeds healing. I was back to work in 12 days. Like others have said, I don't think Kimmel is the one for the job anymore. I don't know who to recommend other than Dr. Alter in Beverly Hills, CA or Dr. Reed in Florida.

Re: After Surgery
Thinking on it a bit more, i had to take it really easy for two weeks post surgery. and i was simply having the removal of the innards, not the whole sack.
i hear others saying back to work they went a few days post surgery, yet i cant comprehend how. the pressure when standing was very strange, and i felt very drained for a full week after. i stayed in philly for a few days, i think 4-5.
the stay felt like just barely enough time to gather my thoughts and head back home, although i dont think i could have possible stayed at the run down best western another night.
i really did have an life altering visit there with the good ole doctor K. if you really would like to hear my thoughts and opinions on that topic, just ask.
in any case i think that if you have your mind set on removal, plan the process out.
