I heard there is a Dr. or TG clinic in Shelton, WA, that does orchies for TGs in transition, they may do them for medical reasons too? I live near there but I don't know where in Shelton it is.

We understand. It's tough, but persevere. Try several doctors, look for a female urologist, from my experience they are more sympathetic and understanding. One man used the excuse that his brother had died from testicle cancer and that he was extremely fearful that he might get testicle cancer. There's a story on the web about it somewhere. That persuaded the doctor to remove his testicles. You might also go to a female psychiatrist outside of your town and try to persuade her that you cannot stand your testicles and that you're afraid you might try to remove them yourself if no one will remove them for you. She may help you find a urologist who will remove them too. Persevere, it'll be worth it.

Siblings of men with testicular cancer have a 6 to 10-fold greater chance of developing TC (Dear naley et al., 2001). Males with a history of an undescended testicle have a 20 to 40-fold increased risk of developing germ-cell tumors (Loehrer et al., 2001). Incidence rates fluctuate around the world, with higher rates in Scandinavia and Germany and lower rates in Asia and Africa (Kinkade, 1999).

dunno if this will help - there is a site that's been mentioned once before in the archive... the o-r-r in belgium (www.o-r-r.com)... they appear to be completely professional and have a couple of videos online of their orchiectomy work - maybe this would be an option? you can even ask them for a quote for the work you want done and by all accounts don't need endless psychiatric reviews, etc before having your op... basically, if you got the money, they'll do what ya want... the only thing I don't think they do is a penectomy before castration although I have heard they will do it after castration... :)

You could try and e-mail Dr. Alter and explain your situation. He is a Board certified urologist and plastic surgeon located in Beverly Hills, CA. He castrated me last year and did a great job. He is usually good about answering e-mails within a few days. If he can't help you, he might know of someone in your area. Here is his web site: http://www.altermd.com/

Any doctor referrals on the west coast???

I just started this site

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Orchialgia

So there is nothing up yet but we have some common problems that might be solved. In any event please PM (Private message me) I've go some experiences that might help you. Or if nothing else tell you what NOT to do ;-)

BTW I don't want to make anyone feel bad that I started a different "place" for guys with Orchialgia. EA has been a very important place for me to learn about MANY things. The reason for a new place is that I've spoken to some guys who find someone who is into some part of this whole experience that freaks them out and they decide to live with chronic pain because they are freaked out. I guess its that end of the spectrum closer to the men who are told they have testicle or prostate cancer and "they" have to go vrs the folks who want to be nutted by Mistress Doom-zilla.

Dr Alter (Who Hairless mentioned) is very matter of fact. I believe one of his concerns is that he doesn't want to do orchiectomies on mental patients. Which btw I think is good! So having a mental health screening, talking to them about your medical problem is a good second step. The first step is to talk to your MD and get them to write a referal for Orchialgia issues. Talk to your doctor about what you've done and ask them if they will include in the referal a request for Orchiectomy. It won't guarentee it happens but... It can't hurt.

With that you might have luck with Dr Alter, Dr Bowers or Dr Reed. They are in California, Colorado and Florida. If you want to do this at home I suggest you seek out the largest hospital. A university one or? They see and treat more surgical patients and thus "may" be less weird about this.

DO your homework. Google Orchialgia+Orchiectomy or Orchidectomy and print out all the references that talk about success rates. And decide if this will be good enough. You will probably be asked to try a variety of treatment options first. Remember you can refuse things *Like Opiates or Tens. If you say no, expect them to ask you why. For me it was easy. Addictive drugs? NONE FOR ME PLEASE! And electric shocks to make me forget my pains? Ahh.... NO THANKS. You maybe asked to undergo a CTSCAN or do a trial of Antibiotics. There is probably going to be a series of Nerve Blocks to see if numbing you really releases you from the pain. Its all part of the program.

You say you have done a lot of stuff. Document it as much as you can and tell them you have tried it and don't want to do so again.

Be prepared that most surgeons are told from day 1 to NEVER do an orchiectomy on anyone other then a cancer patient. If you can. Get them to tell you if its even remotely possible they will consider it. If NOT??? Bail straight away. Expect that some will bail out before it gets to that. Male surgeons tend to think of their own testicles (I think) and may not be able or willing to help you remove your own no matter how much they hurt.

One of the shrinks dr bowers gave me a number for got back to me today.

I was given 3 numbers only one called back. The shrink cant understand why dr bowers needs a letter from a phd when I want them removed because of orchialgia.I think the whole medical business is a mess. The letter doesnt seem a big deal. She said we would need to talk for 2 hours and I get my letter if I need it at all.She took dr bowers phone number and said she would talk to bowers personally and get back to me in a week.

I contacted the doctor I was told about in eugene oregon and I have to talk to him personally then he will decide.

Still waiting for doctor in new mexico to get back to me.He would not be back till thursday.
