If you are bisexual, does that mean that you are a mental hermaphrodite?

According to some recently published studies, it most likely means you are either a liar, or totally self-ignorant. Most people studied who claimed to be bisexual, showed definite and distinct preferences for one sex over another when stimulated.
Personally, I have often suspected that many folks who claim to be bisexual are those who are confused and can't make up their minds, or are being coy and hiding their real inclinations.

Ow! That comment really hurt. I'd rather submit to your hedge clippers....
I must admit that I prefer sex with a woman when given a choice. Duh!
I withdraw the question....

I disagree. I prefer sex with men, absolutely. But I thoroughly enjoy sex with women as well. If not bisexual, then perhaps straight with lesbian tendencies?

I prefer sex with whomever I'm with, who is also willing, regardless of gender. Also in many people preference seems to change with age and circumstances, thus throwing doubt on the studies refered to. I would not like to rule out preferences for the method of stimulation either. --FLO--

Kristoff, I don't want to start an argument here, but really, I strongly disagree with these "recent studies" you are talking about:

Because of several very negative experiences, I have an EXTREMELY jaded view of "modern psychiatry" and all other forms of quackery. But put aside my viscious hatred of the "science" and you still must ackowlege that they have been very, very WRONG in the past. As for these "recent studies," we have seen time and agian, when a researchers sets out to prove that their notion about something, they are remarkable adept at stacking up the "facts" in such a way as to prove their ideas are right.
With very little effort, you can find piles of "scientific studies" that "prove" the superiority of one race or another. Some of these studies were done by supposedly impartial researchers, oddly funded by not so impartial biggots who paid to see in print what they wanted to see.
In the past three decades, I observe a resurgance of the "new right," the "moral majority" and several other narrow minded fundamentalist movements in the U.S. and elsewhere. Somedays I feel like we are seeing a new age "McCarthyism."
Sorry, I digress quite a bit huh? Just have a rabid hatred and loathing of the people who have hurt me and others so badly in the past.
I know myself pretty well, I think I am being very honest when I say that I have had many delightful sexual experiences with both men and women. I find both sexes attractive.

That works for me too, Uncle Flo. I'll have sex with anyone anywhere if they are willing - gender does not matter to me. I don't do anal though.

It all begins with who's asking the question.
If you want to prove something, whether it's everybody is bisexual or nobody is, you have to start with some assumption, some definition.
And well, then you've pretty much decided the outcome there and then.
Basicly you can go:
Homo |---------------|Bi|---------------|Hetero
Or you can go:
Homo |---|----------- Bi -----------|---| Hetero
It will give totaly opposite results. Any which way you're who's deciding, really.
The other thing one may opt for, is asking for what sexual identity people think they have. Then you'll get a lot of other results. But if you try to match that to behaviour... Well, good luck - cause you will probably only get frustrated.
I say I'm bisexual, because that's my identity. But some men that I've had sex with has called themselves gay, and had more female sexpartners then me. And some say that their straight, but have the occasional male sex partner "fur fun" or "for the experience".
Trying to determine anyones sexuality only as some objective thing is not saying very much about those people, but most likely it says your not really interested in what they have to say...

I don't care what others would label you. I'd say "Dream girl"

Some theories say that everyone is basically bisexual, which kinda goes against Kristof''s theory
