As well as eliminating my sex drive, one of the other things I want to achieve from chemical castration is a reduction in the amount of body hair I have. I just wondered if those taking Androcur had noticed this effect.

Yes, but it can take a year or years. this is one of the results I would like, I hate my body hair.

I have been on Androcur for about 3 months, and have not had an noticeably body hair loss, plus I am taking estrogen too.

I might have had 6 hairs on my chest, but they became gone. The hair under my arm pits all went away. My facial hair remained there to be shaved every day. Damn it. I was on Androcur for over three years before I was surgically castrated.

I was not a "Hairy" person, but most body hair is now gone. Face and gential hair is still abundant, but body is smooth. Legs are clean and arms have just light cover. Occasionally shave around my boobs but not sure why.

On Androcur for about a year, 50mg/day, plus 2mg estrofem.

Many thanks for your help, chaps. I've been checking around and it seems that Androcur is just a bit too pricey for me; I've purchased some depo-provera instead.

I have to say there is something about the depo-provera way that appeals to me. I would like to make a serious attempt at chemical castration to see if I can deal with the side effects and be happy with the results. With a depo injection you have little choice but to experience the effects as long as the drug is in you whereas with pills you can stop taking them on a whim. As I want to know if this is right for me long term it seems like this will provide a good way of assessing that. I have medical training so injecting myself does not bother me.

Well, you have to remember Cyproterone Acetate (androcur) is an anti-androgen and depo-provera is a progestogen. Depends what effect you want most.

I was on androcur for a few years before my castration. The body hair did reduce over time. Face hair is far less and what is left grows far slower. I was not very hairy to start with. If seems if you start with a lot of hair you loose some. If you have less hair the degree of reduction is far more.

Every one is different. I think I am still changing in that area even that it has been years now.

I've ordered the depo-provera now. However, I did notice that there is a generic version of Androcur which is much more in my realm of affordability. If I am happy with how things are going after the first couple of months I might try switching, as people seem so impressed with the effects of Androcur.
