Is it possible?
Because.. I am interested by the thought. It would be very interesting to keep your penis with out any testicles and have a neo vagina. Is there anyway to achieve this?. I mean if some people are born as Intersex.. then it should be possible?. Thanks in advance!.

I just saw photos of someone who did this on BME/hardcore last week. Hmm... I don't have the time right now but I'll get you a link later on.

It may be possible someday, but I think it would not be possible yet.
Currently, male to female gender reassignment uses the skin of the penis, and sometimes a graft from the small intestine, to construct a vagina. If you use your penis to construct the vagina, it is not available to continue being a penis.
However, in the future, it very well could become possible to change your sex with much better results by doing it at a CELLULAR leve. But for now, stem cell research is sort of tied up in the U.S. But the theoretical possibilities are really interesting. Someday in the future, you may be able to actually grow a vagina within your own body, and you could also keep your penis intact and become a hermaphrodite. But this is only theoretical today.
If there ever was progress in this area, I would be one of the first to volunteer to try it. I think it would be a very interesting and unique experience.

Yes it has been done. I can remember the who's picture I saw but she's a famous author. I think the book was something like "Gender Outlaw"
Please forgive my some what Swiss Cheesy memory on this as I only flipped through the book at a different light book store.

I think this was more or less what Brother Benedict had had done, on the Channel Four 'Eunuchs' documentary. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure that was round about where he was up to.

I asked in another board.. and here are some of the answers so far
#1 - it isn't possible. i could be wrong, but as far as I know it isn't possible.
#2 - course i'm no doctor, but if you could find a surgeon who would do it...
of course you would need to make the WHOLE vaginal cavity out of skin grafts, which would leave bloody huge scars all over your legs, it would likely be nonsensitive too as there would be no nerve connections... and the base of the penis would have to be removed making errections near impossible.
#3 - Yea, basically, people are born Hermaphroditic, which means they naturally grow the skin required for both genitals. In order to surgically become a Hermaphrodite, you'd need to get the skin from somewhere, and your removed testicles just aren't enough. Not only that, but you can't grow or get implanted actual working nerves.
So yea, Aki has it right.
#4 - Dr Suporn routinely uses just the scrotal skin to line a neovagina. In some patients he gets some small additional grafts from a nearby area. He never uses penile skin in the vagina, using it instead for labia.
So - it would certainly be possible to be made hermaphroditic. However, you will have serious trouble finding a surgeon willing to do the surgery. Even in anything goes Thailand, the surgeons aren't willing to create non-standard results.
-----------
So .. thus far by what I have seen in this and that board.. I think that it is possible but you will probably need lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I don't want to be pedantic, but could I just point out that human beings can't actually be hermaphrodite, in a biological or genetic sense. They can be intersexed but not actually hermaphrodite.
Having said that, the term itself is one that's been taken up by the intersexed community (I use it myself!) in order to gain some command over the word and to try to stop the negative connotations, much like the gay community re-commandeered the word 'queer'.
I don't mind the term at all, in fact I rather like it, but, on reflection, if the questioner is asking 'can anyone ever become hermaphrodite' the correct answer is 'no', they can, however, become intersexed.
Having said that, I'm happy to be a herm!

Is there anyway to change the title of the thread? Because I kept trying and it will not let me.. if a moderator could do that it would be great. Sorry about that.

Hi Fami,
I wouldn't worry about it. It's a common enough term. Technically though, a hermaphrodite is something which is both fully male and fully female. Worms and snails are both hermaphrodites!
But people do use the term regularly to mean 'intersex', I was only being pedantic. If anyone's still confused, this link (
http://www.isna.org/faq/hermaphrodite) should help to clarify it.
