Thanks for a great tale, Pueros. Being unacquainted with Anthonius in history, can you tell us whether or not he eventually had a happier ending with Hron and later on in life? Might make a good post for the Non-fiction board, historically speaking?

I hoped that chapter 69 revealed that Anthonius not only enjoyed a very happy life after being rescued but a very fulfilling one, becoming the 2nd most powerful man in the Roman Empire, even though he was a nullified eunuch. I believe that he was responsible for persuading the Emperor Constantine the Great to move the capital from Rome to Byzantium, renamed Constantinople, thereby enabling the Empire in the east to survive for more than a thousand more years, and to make Christianity, which might otherwise have died out, the state religion - 2 decisions that profoundly affected the history of the world!

Anthonius had to leave Hron in Alexandria when they were both in their late 20s & saw each other again afterwards very infrequently, causing the latter to concentrate on his writing and scientific studies. Anthonius never knew what a great man Hron became as a result because the Arab's many important works and discoveries were only really appreciated after their lifetimes.
