binge eating, loss of ....

Post by homptydumpty (imported) »

I have for the past two months felt no guilt in eating everythig in sight. i crave fatty suger foods that i never touched before my sugery... i hadnt been eating dairy for about 6 months and now i eat it every day. last week i went to the grocery and bought nothing but cookies ice cream and protien shakes.

I eat and eat and eat and dont get full, really i dont feel bad after i eat so much either. i know it cant be healthy to be eating this way every day. i just dont feel like i have any controle...

i now am trying really hard to stay away from the sugers. i have eatin all the cookies and cream, and will try my best not to buy more. but i cant help but wonder if i am the only one post op. who have had this issue?

Hey, it is good to see you back posting. No I haven't had the problem of eating too much yet.

I have that same issue. Before I never touched that kind of food often or at all, but now I can't get enough. Binge eating is very pleasurable. :D

One day I ate nothing but Oreos, fudge grahams, and fudge striped shortbread cookies. heh.. my three favorites nowadays.

Your body will crave what it wants if it is lacking in it. Dairy is high in calcium, and you need that.

What to avoid is the simple carbs variety of things you crave. Look for Splenda sweetened ice cream, "no sugar added". Your blood sugar and your waistline will thank you for it.

I have no idea why there would be a sugar craving, unless you a state of low blood glucose ... provided you are NOT showing symptoms of diabetes, which will also cause this.

If you crave sugary sweets, go for fruit in fake whipped cream and the like. If you're starved for meals, fill up on high protein foods, but do trim the fat off.

I just a pretty good bill of health from the Dr. today, so I must be doing something right with the diet plan.

Is it that you crave food? That you crave sugar? Or is it that, with a drop in testosterone, your sense of smell and taste are enhanced and the food simply tastes much better than it ever has before?

There is research showing that testosterone does dampen the sense of smell and taste.

That would explain why my Mom's boyfriend choice of cologne and why he thinks that he's a great chef. 😄 LOL :D

I think my taste is a bit better. i want alot of the things i used to descust, like dairy and sweetz. the foods give me satisfaction, i feel worm when i eat them.

I really care about my health and know that the huge intake of sugers is bad for the human body. my mom said i should fill up on other things like breads and pasta/ patatos, but dont these things turn into sugers in the bloode as well?

Z.,

Yes they do turn into sugars.

They're all starch and carbs, and that raises blood glucose.

Now, if you're active and you don't have symptoms of diabetes, then these foods in moderation aren't going to hurt you. Too much of them, though, and you'll gain weight...

Before my surgery I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain an ounce, and I made the mistake of thinking that wouldn't change after the surgery.

Nearly two years later I have gained 30 pounds of fat.

Be careful. Enjoy your ability to appreciate taste, but keep how much you are eating in check :)
