Sign? What sign? Oh that sign!

Post by Dave (imported) »

The elderly priest, speaking to the younger priest, said, "Your idea to replace the first four rows of pews with plush bucket theater seats was a good one. It worked like a charm. The front of the church always fills first now."

The young priest nodded, and the old priest continued, "And you told me a little more beat to the music would bring young people back to the church, so I supported you when you brought in that rock 'n roll gospel choir. Now we are packed to the balcony!!"

"Thank you, Father," answered the young priest. "I am pleased that you are open to the new ideas of youth."

"However," said the elderly priest, "I'm afraid you've gone too far with the drive-thru confessional."

"But, Father," protested the young priest, "my confessions and the related donations have nearly doubled since I began that!"

"I know, son, but that flashing neon sign, 'Toot 'n Tell or Go To Hell', just can't stay on the church roof!"

Imagine the traffic backup if I confessed my sins.

At least it's only traffic... I walk into a church and the holy water boils.

For really difficult cases, they keep a bottle of consecrated drain cleaner in the sacristry.....

Are you trying to say that perhaps my plumbing needs holy cleansing? I guess I'd be open to the idea if the priest was cute enough...

Why wait for a cute priest when we have a high ranking sister in red on our staff?

I've heard a bit about Her Holiness' reputation, and there's one individual who doesn't need my help being corrupted. I'd rather cast my wickedness on a completely unsuspecting victim.

No, I was suggesting that while the idea of holy water is to wash away sin, there may be occasions where something stronger is needed....

On the other hand. a lot of people find that when the drains need attention, a plumber is often no more effective (and a lot more expensive) than an exorcist.

*sighs....* I'd never get out of the confession stand if I had to confess all my sins.
