Hi, lilboywannebe.
Just wanted to say thank you for the story. These ones strike a chord with me, and I'm always suprised when someone else writes such a tale.
Thanks for going for it, and thanks to the story editor for letting it pass through.
I'd encourage you to expand on this story, and definitely look forward to any future writings you may do for the site.
Thanks again!

I have to dissagree, the fact it wasn't just badly edited but in places was missing words (even the title was missing a word!!) made this a very difficult read to a story that was already a little bit poor to begin with.

Not a bad story for a first attempt, hope to see more from you!

Agreed, dedicked.
And I, too, would encourage the author to re-read and re-edit themselves before submitting the piece, or perhaps ask in the appropriate board for editing help. At the same time, I'd wish it was longer.
However, this may be a writer for whom english is a second language or some such circumstance... and if the board lost all stories written at this grammatical level and slightly better, we would lose too many, just for the sake of an authors' poor understanding of english or whatever the case may be.
I understand the desire for a board full of stories written with Pueros', Nathans', or Slammrs' (or whoevers) quality. But like I said, I'm also worried about never seeing stories that are just not up to perfection. Especially in this genre, I wonder if alot of the one-off, relatively poorly written stories are some author's once-in-a-lifetime attempt at exsorsizing a demon or expressing their own deepest taboo desires in the only legal way they can... and if they have not written anything since high-school, this is the level they may write at. They would certainly be discouraged at being rejected straight off and un-published at the only dedicated castration site that I know of. I work with many full-grown, reasonably inteligent adults who write, to my eye, at less than a junior-high level.
The reason I bring this up, other than dedickeds' comment (which I thank you for, as it brings this point up), is I remember seeing in a post a few months ago where the new story manager guy (sorry, title and name escape me at the moment) was saying the requirements for publication were sharply curving up. I was worried that rather a lot of stories would not get published, but the fact this one made it through made me see you are not being as strict as I thought you may be. Thanks!

I did publish the story even though I hesitated. There were more mistakes than I would like to have seen, but I felt that the story as a whole could still be read and understood with no extra effort.
The story does not have to be perfect in order to be published. It simply must as a whole meet the guidelines that have always been in place but have never been formally mentioned. A few violations will not mean a rejection, but a story that consistently violates the guidelines and requires much extra effort to read will be rejected.
I have deleted a number of stories for violations of the guidelines. The most common reasons for deletion have been either the story is too short or the story is not broken up into paragraphs.

Plix,
If you want to do it, and only if you want to, it comes with the territory to fix minor snaf-fu's like that before you post it. You wouldn't believe how many of the existing stories before the big hack had already had major surgery done to them by me before they were posted.

IE is working on that

I will definitely take advantage of it once it is ready.

What typically happens when you reject a story because of no paragraphs? Do the authors usually fix the problems and resubmit the story or do they just disappear never to be seen again?

If there was a problem with a story that was big enough to justify rejection, I would try to e-mail the author if possible. But it seems that most of the authors whose stories have been rejected do not provide e-mails. I have offered for those who do not want to have an e-mail publicly available to send me one privately, but no one has taken me up on that offer yet. Nothing I can do if someone does not do something to give me a way to contact them.

They probably do not know that they can get a free, private and secure email address at
http://www.hushmail.com/.
Maybe part of the reason their stories are so poorly edited is that they are unwilling to keep anything about the archive on the computer they are using and they are trying to write their stories online.
