For a lot of reasons I came to TG late in life. How old is to old for castration and HRT to be affective. I'll be 60 this summer, is it to late?

Plenty of men are castrated in their 60s and beyond, what kind of HTR do you want? Fem I suppose. e-mail me as you are very similar to me.

I was castrated in 2005 at the age of 67. So, I would say you are not too old.

It's really up to you.
Some times folks like to tell other people who are older than they are "Don't you think you missed your boat?" as if this is something you shouldn't be doing, but they never extend the metaphor to it's logical conclusion.
If you accept that metaphor at face value and decided not to pursue your goal, then you are just standing on the pier watching your ship sail away. So what are you going to do for the rest of your life? You still have to wake up every day and try your best to enjoy life, and what would really make you happy is being on that ship, going on the ride of your life. The amazing thing is the ship is you and you are the captain. So in reality it is impossible to miss the boat. The boat you want is ready to take you where ever you want to go when the time is rite for you.
So you see... It's really up to you. It's only too late when you decide it is. What ever you do remember to do what is rite for you.
Huggggsss,
Jema

It would be to old ,only in the sense that the results you may get from HRT as far as developement in some areas .If that is not your main goal then you should be fine

How old is too old? It depends partly on your goal.
If you want to make a full transition to female – complete with name change and living full-time as a woman – 60 may be pushing the limit. Too many of your friends and acquaintances would reject you out of ignorance. You would need to begin again on too many aspects of your life. You could do it, but it might not be worth the pain.
If you want to remove the effects of testosterone and feminize your body enough that YOU feel comfortable with yourself, you are definitely young enough. Remember that castration is part of the treatment for advanced prostate cancer patients. Medicare funding alone pays for over 80,000 castrations per year of men over the age of 65.
To ward off the osteoporosis that is more likely without either sex hormone in the body, these prostate cancer patients are frequently (though not often enough) put on estrogen – providing some feminization.
You probably know men, your own age and older, who have been castrated. You just don't know who they are because they are afraid to talk about it. (Check the thread Angels Sing (
http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=10714) on the Non-Fiction Board.) Talk with your doctor about your desires. If your latest PSA was high, you have a good starting point. Otherwise, just bring up the gender dysphoria. If your doctor won't help, fire him and get a new one.
Best of luck, and keep us informed of how you're doing.

I don't know the answers from a TG viewpoint but I'll be 62 early this summer and I'm planning to be castrated within the next year. I'm somewhat sorry I didn't have it done 30 years ago when I had the opportunity but I still don't think I'm too old now. My thought is for you to consult with people who have transitioned at a later age in order to set realistic expectations for yourself. If I am not too old you are certainly not too old either. --FLO--

Good Lord, Man! Stick the red light to the roof of your car like Kojak, McGarret from 5-O, and Husky & Starch, and drive like a bat out of hell to the nearest castration station! Time is of the essence! Get a move on, Chop Chop! Snip Snip!
Had you been married all these years, at least you would have been castrated psychologically.
