My Experience

Hello everyone,

Id just thought id put my castration experience in the Archive for all to view.

From the start....

I had been suffering from testical pain for almost 7 years after a vasectomy, after seeing a Uroligist for almost 6 yerars he finaly decided that a bilateral orchiectomy was my best bet for ending the pain i've lived with...

Thursday 9th of March was my operation.

The Doctor had decided that a general anesthetic was the best way to go.

I drove 40 kms to the Hospital where i would be having the procedure after all the neccesary stuff forms and questions ( I think I was asked if i was allergic to anything about 100 times and got weighed about the same amount of times and yes it said 65 kg every time didnt stop them from weighing me again and again ) they finnaly got me to the operating theater where I was pleasently put to sleep ( Only temperary not like a Dog ).

When I awoke I could not feel anything from the waist down, the nurses explained to me that the anesthetist had given me a shot in my spine that was ment to numb the pain for 3 to 4 hours after the operation ( This was not an epidural ).

After a Very unpleasent night in Hospital and I say that because little did I know that by making me numb from the waist down i could not tell when my bladder was full, not to say that i wet myself, i just didnt go at all which was fine untill the meanest nastiest stomoch pains came my way making me feel as if i was dying. The Nurses in charge made me get up and conviced me to try to have a wee, well didnt that make all the diference in the world never been so glad to urinate in my life instant relief from the pain allowed me to try to get some sleep but with nurses waking me every hour to check my blood preasure and Oxygen levels it was still a rough night.

6 Days later and im feeling GOOD apart from a niggling pain from above either side of my penis obviously where the tubes where cut off im not feeling to bad.

Just a couple of questions how long before I feel the effects of Castration I know its only been 6 days but I feel as normal ( Sexualy ) as the day i went in.

Well at the end of all this im already getting the result i realy wanted and that was to feel no more mind bending pain that i experianced every hour of the day beforehand and that alone is somthing to rejoice about and makes what I had to go through worth it in my books I just hope that I keep fealing this positive about what I felt was my only real hope in living a normal life and wont be taking for granted the little things like running, jumping, ridding a bike

being able to lift things bending over kneeling down kicking somthing and my list could just go on and on.

Thank you all here for your sharing your Experiences its more info in one hour of reading than 100hrs at a doctors.....

I assume your testicles were removed thru your groin.

I dont know any other reason for the need to put you out.

Lots of testicles are removed thru the scrotum under locals.

To more directly answer your question I'd have to say that there is a wide variation in the length of time to feel the full effects. Some feel it within a few days, some take years. My observations would indicate that most seem to feel the full effect somewhere between two weeks and two months later. The beginning may be so subtle that you won't realize it until it is well under way. Others here may should be able to tell you of their experiences as well. I hope that the results are everything that you expect them to be. --FLO--

I agree with Sdyuck - it sounds like they made an inguinal incision and took everything - tubes and all. You will have two scars on either side of your abdomen - they should fade with time. I'd have opted for the simpler scrotal incision removal - more like a vasectomy procedure. Anyway - welcome to our menagerie.

First congratulation on being able to be rid of the testicle pain. It is so wrong to make a person wait and suffer for so many years.

Everyone seems to heal a little different. My experience is from a scrotal incision. I was back to most things in a few days. I was told to take it easy for two weeks to play it safe. Like I listen to that.

Sex life did not really change so I can not help in that regards. You did not mention if you will be on any HRT hormone replacement treatment. If you are and the dose is right, you should have no adverse sexual effects out side of the sterilization.

Again wish you a fast recovery.

Hi Squish,

Welcome to the land of the balless. Like the others that have replied, I don't understand the excessive medication. I had my testicles and scrotum removed. I was put out for 2 hrs. and was in recovery for about 30 min. They could have done the operation with a local, but it was kind of nice to go to sleep, wake up and it was over. They wouldn't let me go home until I urinated, which wasn't happening very fast, so they used a catheter to drain me. I was then released to go home. My wife drove us home and 2 hrs. later I was sitting in my favorite chair. The doctor gave me vicodin for the pain, but I didn't really need them and I used an ice pack for a couple days to keep the swelling down. Since I had a drain inserted I had to go back and have that removed after 4 days and then again in a week for a checkup. They did the drain account I had my scrotum removed and needed some where for the fluids to go, but I think it also aided to speed my recovery. Like you, I did have a little discomfort on either side of my penis. Yes that is where the chords were cut. The discomfort only lasted a few days. I don't understand your hospital stay, it wasn't that big a thing. Everyone heals at different rates, so no one can give you an exact time when you will be 100%. I was back to work in 12 days and having sex with the wife in 8 weeks. As Bobby said, keeping your testosterone at normal levels are the key to keeping you sexually active and feeling normal. I, like many here, just wanted to be castrated. I had pain issues and dysphoric issues that were mostly solved. I did not wish to put myself through the ordeal of being hormone free. I see that you have done a lot of reading here so you should be well aware of whats involved. Personally I would recommend having HRT, but that is up to you. You didn't really say what your plans are. Good luck on a speedy recovery and keep us posted on how you are doing. We can always use more accounts for the newbies. And the rest of us are here to help if we can.

Thanks for all the replys people,

I forgot to metion a couple of things,

1. There was a small incision down the center of my scrotum a bit less than a centermeter long removing tubes and all.

2. As I drove myself home the next day a hospital stay was insisted apon that and they wanted to keep me monitered as there was no drainage on the wound.

3. Yes I hope to remain sexualy active so taking HRT is important to me just havnt been prescribed any yet ( Early Days See Doc in 1 more week suspect then ).

Hope this clears up a few things as for a general or a local im glad i went for the General.

My preference is for a local as it causes far less trouble afterwards and is much safer. --FLO--

Sounds like the hospital folks were just being overly cautious. A central scrotal incision is pretty trivial. I don't comprehend why general anesthesia was used as it adds risk rather than reducing it.

As for me - I want to watch the entire operation.

It sounds like Orchitis a problem I understand (unfortunatly) Congrats on the pain free rest of your life! One thing that I think you might want to consider is that other then Hot Flashes you may not "feel" that different as your testosterone levels plumet. YOU will change. Your perception may not. Listen to your wife, family and friends and if you need HRT do it.
