Just a few thoughts and suggestions after using the board to post several stories. I've encountered some problems with loging in to post my stories, the first three are done from the normal mode, the last, Jia, with the enhanced mode (it finally worked!). I haven't been able to look at the stats however since it won't let me in (arrrrrgh!) although the username and password work here (obvious).
Is there some way we can fix our stories after posting, someone noticed a spelling mistake and I hate to have that mistake being downloaded without being able to do something about it. Can we repost? Can our stories that have been posted normally be associated with a member author?
Aside from my minor gripes above, the new Eunuch Archives looks great.
Thanks

Re: Problems with accessing stats etc.
There are a few problems with this idea. Moving and editting stories around isn't an easy thing to do. The Archive is hosted by BME, and the Archive alone is a HUGE thing as far as computer data goes. That's not even beginning to imagine the database for the rest of BME. Basically, it pretty much takes an act of God and Congress to delete or edit a story once it has been indexed and filed. THAT part of it isn't run by a nice program that's user friendly!

To do that requires using an FTP program, and unless things have changed since December - when it wouldn't work at all - it's pretty much impossible. Talula and I spent the better part of a whole afternoon last month trying to repair a story that had its text pasted in over and over again. We finally gave up, and the both of us were on 1.5 Gig machines with cable modems! The server simply wouldn't have it.
No matter how many times your proof or have someone else proof your work, you're still going to stand the chance of having an error slip through. Even spell/grammar checking is not 100% reliable, as mixing "an" for "and" and such other mistakes goes right by it.
The easiest thing to do would be to post a small addendum to the Story Reviews/Author Feedback Board. Even Orson Scott Card, in his last Ender series book, had to post 3 pages of addendums and corrections on the website! (Card is a HUGE sci-fi author, btw.)
As far as posting in enhanced mode, I don't know why this is giving you problems. Remember that the user name and password for this feature are supposed to case sensitive. I always make sure I'm logged in to submit a story in enhanced form before I even copy/paste the text. If it continues to act up on you, let us know.

Re: Problems with accessing stats etc.
I have just done some minor repair work to the author stats login so if you have a chance please log in again and let me (us) know if it works.
I have also associated all of the other stories posted with your email address with your username so you should be able to see the stats for those as well.
Thanks,

Thanks. I tried the stats and it works now. I see your point about correcting typo's and stuff, there are quite a few stories at the archive and I can imagine that it would get insane if everyone started to correct and update theirs!
