She's just a kid of 25, with little education, little experience of what most people would call the "real world," and she's at the center of a media maelstrom. Her sins are trivial - you could see up her skirt (so who was looking, and why, and why were photos flashed all over the planet? doesn't it say more about the people taking the pictures than about her?); her hair was bad, so she shaved it off (so what, and why were people looking?); she's spent too much time in bars with alcohol, tobacco, and probably other drugs (like millions of other people, and especially like millions of shallow young people who define what she's doing as having a good time. I see them lined up outside of bars every Saturday night.) She's largely unschooled, and no deep thinker, and probably has few emotional resources to cope with trouble, so all she can do when she's unhappy is "have fun." Much of the tabloid coverage has been cruel. A NY Post columnist actually demanded that her children be taken away from her! There's a gloating tone about much of it - "We used to look up to you, but now we've got the goods on you, so now we can look down on you. Ha, ha!"

Well, I never looked up to her (classical music fan, even if she does have a great ass), so now I needn't savor her pain.

I'd like to know if anyone here could withstand the relentless scrutiny and publicity to which Spears has been subjected. People should let well enough alone.
