This week a study was released revealing that HIV hijacks the testes and "hides out" there using them to make more copies of itself.
I'm wondering if, in the future, this could be used as a reason for castration so insurance would pay part or all of the costs?

Probably not. HRT is often given to more advanced HIV patients because of this very issue - the virus causes reduced production of testosterone because it hijacks the testes. However, the testes are merely one location where the HIV virus resides. Removing the testicles would not be an effective treatment, and as a result, would most likely not be covered by insurance. Caution: do not go out looking for a dose of HIV in order to try this theory. It is still a fatal disease.

Too late, tho I'm considered a non - progessor with a weakened version of the virus. So far I've lived with it for 24 years with no sign of a single OI. the only effect has been lowered testosterone, for which I'm on Testim, which insurance does pay for.
