What Drugs To Ask For From The Doc

I am going to see the doc in two weeks (very embarrased about that) and would like to know what drugs to ask for?

Was maybe thinking of asking for Androcur and Tamoxifen ( if available in the uk)

Do I need both of these?

The affect I want from chemical castration is basically some relief from my sexual feelings (Its get really embarrassing in public places as you will already know) The smaller the libido the better

I also really like the idea of a reduction in body hair and the fact the Bald bits on my head may grow back. Woohoo!!

I also can handle a little breast increase, but not too much

Also I would like to mention that I live in the uk and as I have heard from other posts the docs over here are a bit naive to this sort of thing.

One other thing is that I will be trying for a baby next year and does anyone know if a doc in the uk will consider letting me bank sperm (basically has any one been offered sperm banking before undergoing this sort of treatment) so I can start treatment right away? Also note that we are not conceiving in the normal way, we are using an egg donor and I will have to give sperm for that at some point

Any comments will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

As my first post says, I was looking forward to some loss of body hair.

But after changing my forum user setting which has given me more posts to ready, I have found out that not a lot of people have mentioned loss of body hair.

I'm sure i have read some were that taking Anti androgens will reduce/remove body hair from males. Is this correct? or will i have to take a small amount of Estrogens to get this effect

If you had been diagnosed with a disease (ie. prostate cancer) who's treatment would cause infertility, I'm sure your doctor could arrange sperm banking for you. But in your case I think the doctor would simply say 'don't mess with your fertility until you have definitely finished having a family'.

Even after you and your wife are sure you have all the family you want, I doubt that your doctor will happily prescribe anti-androgens. I approached my doctor on the subject a couple of years ago. I was 50, my 54 y.o. wife had gone though menopause, we definitely were not going to have any more kids and wouldn't want any more if we could. My doctor looked at me and said 'I can't give you anything to reduce your sex drive. Maybe you should find someone else to have sex with'. I don't think she was being particularly serious, but there again I don't think she was able to take my request seriously. I guess in the back of her mind is the idea that a perfectly healthy virile man like me should not be given anything that might damage him. ie. it just goes against all of the doctor's ideas of ethics and good practice. This is why I decided to self-medicate. If, after a couple of months, I find that chemical castration suits me, I'll approach the doctor again and hopefully she will accept that my wife and I are happy about it. Hopefully the doctor will want to monitor me and help us to maintain our new status quo. Either that, or she'll be horrified that I've taken things into my own hands and won't have any more to do with me. We'll see.

Thanks for you reply

I really hope my doctor is more under standing than yours, as i don't think i can put up with this much longer. I really am climbing the walls already.

My fiance knows about my feelings and has agreed to come with me to see my doctor. This may influence his decision to help me. Also my doctor is male and maybe able to relate to my situation.

If he will not help then i may have to look at my other options

There are quite a few folks here who have gone to their doctors for anti-androgens and have indeed been prescribed. Most won't do or approve of a surgical solution. If need be, try another doctor. On the other hand, a large number of people do self-medicate.

I don't think doctors are trained to cope with a patient requesting castration (chemical or surgical), so I guess it puts them in a position where they have to go out on a limb. Perhaps if I hadn't been brought up to be so polite I'd have pushed the doctor a bit. But I could see that the doctor was flustered so I backed off. Maybe if I'd gone back and asked her again, she might have had time to reasearch chemical castration and maybe she'd have prescribed something. Anyway, I'll go and see her again in the near future and confess that I'm self medicating, but would rather be under her supervision.

But to answer the prime question posed by this thread:

I don't think it should be necessary to take tamoxifen as well as Androcur (cyproterone acetate). It seems to me that tamoxifen is only taken on top of cyproterone acetate by guys who are troubled by breast tenderness and/or seek to totally eradicate their ability to gain an erection. I am hoping that a low dose of cyproterone acetate will get rid of my sexual frustration without causing other problems. (The main problem I'm experiencing in these first few days on are the hot flushes and the resultant lack of sleep. I'm hoping they won't go on too long, or I'm not sure I'll be able to do this long term.)

I have known all along that castration doesn't necessarily eliminate all sexual urges or ability. ie. My mum's arab gelding used to get a big erection and run around his field whinneying any time a nice filly in season was ridden past. The vet said he was probably not gelded at a young enough age. Plus, we had a buck rabbit neutered because he used to spray urine at us. His nasty habit stopped, but he still fucked the female rabbits from time to time - although they really had to rub it in his face to get him in the mood :dong:

Well tomorrow is the day I will be seeing the doctor). Will he laugh or just think I am mental.

I don't mind telling you I,m bricking it 😱 This is a major thing for me and the butterfly's are going mad inside my stomach

I'm going to start by telling him about my over active sex drive, and if he considers putting me on medication I will mention Androcur.

Thankfully may fiance is very supportive and will be coming with me.

I will let you all know the outcome tomorrow. Plz keep you fingers crossed for me.

If need be, see a physician who is sympathetic to gender issues

heheheh.. I had a cat who was neutered at a young age and still, rarely but it did happen a few times, he would try to mount my female cat when she was in heat, though he'd do it wrong and instead of mounting her rear he'd mount her side and hump the air. lol..

He wasn't a very bright cat, and very strange. He had 24 toes and all left feet, kind of small and squirrelly. He also made a good friend with a opossum whom he shared his food with. They'd sit out on the back porch late at night, side-by-side, nearly touching, just sitting, staring out at my yard. He actually resembled the opossum a lot. heheh..
