Have you heard of people who have limbs amputated and can still feel them ? Is it the same case with testicules after surgical castration ? Do we feel a lack ?

I have never had phantom sensations or pain.

I talked to a pain doctor about that and he said that any time you cut nerves there is a chance you could experience phantom pains. Orchiectomy is amputation. He said that during the orchiectomy nerve blocks should be injected to the cords. While temporary this is supposed to help. He also said that if you had post op pains to seek immediate help from a pain clinic. The idea being that the longer you go the more difficult the problem will be to treat.

I think it mainly depends on your state of mind going in. People who have phantom pain seem to be those who lost something traumatically. Most of us here that have been castrated, have had it done by choice and to my knowledge have not suffered from phantom pain. I know that for myself that the only pain I had after surgery was the slight pain from healing. I am glad my balls are gone and I don't miss them at all. Now that I've been without them for a year, it's like they were never there. Maybe it's my female side kicking in, but

it's wonderful not having them hanging between my legs.

Just a thought here. I was having what I considered Phantom pain. I recently found out that I have two vertebrae in my lower back that are compressing. MY Urologist said that the result from that could and would cause pain like that whether you were castrated or not. Like Hairless, I am glad my balls are gone also.

well its been a month now, and, have had times I swore the dang thing was still there,(yeah you even reach down and go wtf is going on, got rid of it once, whats it doing back!) its like a nerve is running through the scar tissue where I got cut open,(up high, but still on the side of the scrotum, doc said it was a different technique that heals quicker, yet he could still get all of the cord) still have a knot there ,that is slowly shrinking,

but it crossed my mind of wondering if this is the phantom pain thing, we will see if it still happens in 6 months or so,

That's not phantom pain your feeling, it's phantom nut. Why didn't your surgeon remove both testicles. I would think that while he was in there, it would have been better to remove both and therefor be sure of removing the pain. Was that your choice or his? Did you want to keep one to make T or something? I know about the pain issue also and haven't had any sense my castration. I didn't have the knot feeling, but I think others have. It should go away before too long.

it was his,

I brought up about getting both out ,(long before this surgery)he wouldnt , but after bugging him with bouts of pain, ultrasounds, MRIs, ect, for over a couple yrs,

he finally said its time to pull the tooth, but,

he flat out said one at a time, (I think its the money angle myself )

at least I got rid of one, now to see how things go, one step at a time,

I actually thought about before my castration. Luckily there are no phantom feelings so far. Though I'm still sometimes surprised when I go to scratch (still having those damn healing itches) that there isn't anything there to scratch.
