Story submissions

How can you submit a story and retain formatting without inserting html? When I do, I often seem to forget to include an ending tag or two then stuff gets formatted that I don't want formatted. It would be all right, if I could go back and edit it, but once the button's pressed, it's too late. I just submitted a story and about half of it ended up being italicized, instead of the few words I wanted italicized.

Back in the day, as you well know, Slammr, you could use something like Front Page to do the story and then send ME the HTML file that you did a "save as" on. I don't know how it's working now, though. Hopefully IE has your answers.

Back in the day, I didn't have a problem. I've submitted some stories OK now using html when needed, but one mistake, one missing tag, and it screws the whole thing up. As it was, I think it took me a good thirty minutes to submit my last story, and then about half of it seemed to be italicized. I must have left out a closing tag somewhere. If there was a way to go back and edit before a final submission, it wouldn't be a problem, but now it's a one shot affair.

Not something I use, but isnt there a function in word or other such programs that allows you to preview html as well as edit it. In an HTML class years ago, we used to preview all kinds of stuff like that in Word (version which?) as well as Nutscrape and IE. Be damned if I remember details, but it may be an avenue to explore...

I might try something a little different. I was just using html tags when I wanted to change the format of a line or two, posting the rest in text. I might try posting the whole thing in html and see what happens. I did one before and it was really messed up, but I think I included the headers too, so maybe that's what did it.

I can't necessarily get to it this week, but send the story to ie@eunuch.org and I'll do the substitution.

I hate to put you to that much trouble. I could just try submitting it again, trying to be more careful about the tags? Mainly, I was just curious whether there was another way to include such formatting as Bold Chapter headings and italicizing, which I often use to denote thoughts.

I see the story has posted and that it didn't turn out as badly as I had thought. A few chapters ended up italicized, but it's not all that noticeable; it's not worth redoing. Thanks, though.
