low dose spironolactone

Post by LeslieStone (imported) »

Here is what I have found (guessing)

With 25mg spironolactone, 6-7% gynemastia

150mg+ spironolactone, 50% gynemastia

I need to take the edge off of my libido. Wife is having/has been having trouble with depression/anxiety for many years and just started Paxil (SSRI, dont start with the evils of the stuff. I know.)

If I said finish the sentence and I say "We get intimate about 4-6 times a _____." If you guessed "a year", you would be correct. Wheee!

I'm 41, excellent health. I'm in shape. Did the Ironman triathlon a few times. Problem is, for me, I cannot sleep due to body parts staying active when I do not want them to. I do not want to shut down completely via Depo.

Has anyone had good luck with low dose Spiro without feminization and a reduction in libido?

Well for me from what I have experienced with Spiro it has been a steady decline in erecetions though it was not total. I was on 200mg of spiro but i was afraid of potassium storage in my body so I dropped it down to only 100mg per day.

Back when I was on 200MG and no depo I would still get erections and be somewhat sexually active, though of course this is all based on myself only. The effect of 200MG Spiro on someone else could be t otally different, perhaps more efective or less effective x.x;.

As for gynemastia I did develop it but I was also on estrogen patches x2 Estradem TTS25 for about a month or so then moved on to Estradem TTS50x2 and now I am moving on to Estraderm TTS100 x2 > . >.. going full on this.

That is my share on the subject though I was also taking finpecia x1 mg per day but I am not totally sure how much that helped... I am a vegetarian and I did stay away from high potassium foods, I got pretty thirsty when I started taking SPIRO and had more visits to the restroom to get rid of the extra liquid.

At least for me, what Spiro did at first was nice, but I wanted to stop erections and the sexual drive more so I decided to take on DEPO 150MG and it did wonders for me. After that i dropped spiro to 100MG per day as to not worry so much about the potassium being stored in my system.. some say 200 is a lot others say 200 is too little.. -Shrugs- I sitll do not eat high potassium foods just in case ^^. I do eat a lot of Soy, Tofu, alfalfa and barley though.. and lots of veggies!.

Oh I am 21 years old BTW. I started things slowly after my 21rst birthday.

I took Androcur for a couple of months -- and it made me less tense about having to go without at bedtime. Then one month ago I injected 150 mg Depo and stopped the Androcur. Result -- not much different. No erections without provocation, but they'd still occur with some effort. I didn't pine over the lack of attention from my other half -- enjoyed it when it happened.

I'm not sure when I'll take inj. #2 of the Depo -- but it mellowed me just fine.

Supposedly (according to my psych and others) you can really kill your libido with just SSRIs (high-dosage, I think).

There would be no feminization involved with that and probably quite reversible.

SSRI's only create a disconnect. They don't diminish the desire, only the ability.

Amen. Rocket goes into orbit after lots of work getting ready, but no landing... Just cuz it dont cum back down, doesn't mean you don't have a rocket anymore.... It just aint flying the way you want it to. Course the boys (or girls, whatever;) ) still look good...

To all,

I meant that my wife is going on Paxil, not me. That is why I need to get my "stuff" to calm down for a while before I need some for myself.

I have read the same about SSRI's and I don'y really like it but she need to do something. Big rut she's in and it's trying to tske me wth it.

Has your wife had her hormones checked? Depression is very often diagnosed for women going through menopause. But its not "depression" Its just low hormones. And speaking from experience men whose testosterone is in the tank can "act" depressed as well. If you wife does have hormone issues search out info on Bio Identical HRT.

If that doesn't work have you thought of some alternative sexual outlit? Masturbation? Anything??? I think chemical castration is going to carry with it a lot more bagage then you think.
